Munitions Technician

Role Overview

Munitions Technician at Amentum. This position supports U.S. Air Force munitions operations at assigned sites.

Role Purpose

The Munitions Technician receives, stores, inspects, tests, transports and maintains U.S. Air Force munitions, Munitions Material Handling Equipment (MMHE) and supporting resources. The role ensures compliance with the Performance Work Statement and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System while operating Theater Integrated Combat Munitions System (TICMS) and may supervise Other Country National munitions workforce.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

• Consistently observe and enforce all USAF and host nation explosives safety, AFOSH and security standards during all explosives and non-explosives operations in assigned sites and temporary duty locations.
• Prepare and deliver general and explosives safety briefings.
• Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to prescribed procedures and as required for task being performed.

Emergency Response

• Take necessary control and timely response actions in the event of an emergency.

Munitions Processing & Quality

• Conduct all munitions work according to established quality processes, identifying potential problems and recommending solutions.
• Recondition, repair and replace defective or missing parts of munitions and containers.
• Assist inspecting munitions in accordance with 11A-1-10 and applicable technical orders.
• Assist inspecting munitions brass, residue and containers in accordance with 11A-1-60.

Storage & Inventory

• Perform munitions storage actions according to stringent explosives standards.
• Conduct warehouse inventories and correct any discrepancies.
• Work closely with operations personnel to resolve any serviceability and accountability issues noted during warehouse operations.

Shipping & Transportation

• Prepare and configure munitions shipments for air, sea and surface transportation.
• Upload and download trucks with incoming and outgoing munitions shipments.
• Transport munitions to and from flightline holding areas and to support daily operations within the department, if qualified.

Systems & Equipment Operation

• Operate assigned TICMS as applicable to the Site's processes.
• Perform required actions in TICMS utilizing the Receiver role.
• Inspect, operate and perform maintenance on light vehicles and handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and manual hoists.
• Inspect and operate metal strapping equipment, stencil machines, heat sealers, pneumatic paint guns, air compressors and power tools.

Facility & Equipment Maintenance

• Inspect and perform minor maintenance on facilities and installed equipment.
• Clean vehicles, equipment and facilities.

Supervision & Crew Leadership

• Supervise Other Country National munitions workforce as applicable.
• Provide crew chiefs operations and deliver clear instructions about the work to assigned crew members.

Additional Duties

• Perform entry-controller duties as required.
• Work necessary hours, to include stand-by duties, to support mission requirements during peacetime and combat contingencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completed formal USAF Munitions Systems training or US Service equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of USAF Supply and Tech Order systems or US service equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. US Citizenship is required to obtain Secret Clearance.
• Preferred: minimum of four years of experience with USAF Military Munitions.
• Preferred: Associate's Degree in Munitions Management.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficient in personal computer use and Windows Operating System.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs to include minimum Power Point, Excel and Word.
• Capable of operating material handling equipment.
• Normal color perception and depth of vision required.
• Physically capable of performing all required duties; capable of lifting, pushing and pulling minimum of 50 lbs.

Additional Information

• Valid home country driver's license required; ability to obtain host nation driver's license required.
• Will work in normal office and maintenance shop or warehouse environment and may be required to work outdoors for extended periods.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally required.
