Role Overview

MEP Supervisor at AtkinsRealis. The role supervises and coordinates Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) installation, maintenance, and commissioning activities to ensure all works are executed according to project specifications, quality standards, safety regulations, and project schedules.

Role Purpose

To supervise and coordinate MEP installation, maintenance, and commissioning activities, ensuring execution meets project specifications, quality standards, safety regulations, and schedules while leading and mentoring a team, managing design documentation, and delivering technical solutions with engineering judgment.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead a team and create plans for ongoing and upcoming projects.
• Support and mentor team members, with the possibility of formal line management responsibilities.
• Ensure team members work as reliable and proactive members, applying knowledge gained.

Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate with other trades through periodical meetings.
• Communicate clearly with a range of people, including making presentations.
• Present project work at company meetings or conferences.

Technical Design & Documentation

• Prepare early design concepts and assign mechanical spaces requirements.
• Prepare design drawings and calculations.
• Review technical material submittals, shop drawings, contractor bids and specifications.
• Produce design documentation and drawings including optioneering reports and specifications of mechanical systems.
• Produce design calculations of mechanical systems for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting.
• Produce hydraulic calculations for mechanical equipment, equipment datasheets, specifications and schedules.
• Prepare General Arrangement drawings for piping and mechanical equipment, Isometric drawings, P&IDs, PFDs and related diagrams.
• Prepare Technical Reports and contractual documents of acceptable technical and presentational quality with minimum guidance.

Technical Competency & Problem-Solving

• Demonstrate technical competence and apply engineering judgment independently to determine solutions.
• Demonstrate sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles and their application in HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Fighting and pumping stations.
• Work to design national and international codes and standards appropriate for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting industry.
• Perform Pipe and Duct sizing calculations, pump sizing calculations, tanks calculations, cooling loads calculations, and static pressure calculations.
• Demonstrate familiarity with various HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting mechanical equipment.

• Ensure good knowledge of work procedures and that work adheres to procedures.
• Apply new ideas and digital solutions to improve efficiency in processes and solutions.
• Own responsibility for completion of specifically assigned tasks to time and cost.

Professional Development

• Receive on-the-job technical training through performing tasks with minimum supervision.

Qualifications & Experience

• 7 to 12 years of experience in MEP or related field.
• Experience of working on MENA projects is a must.
• Sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles and their application in HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Fighting and pumping stations.
• Experience in the production of design documentation and drawings including optioneering reports and specifications of mechanical systems.
• Experience in producing design calculations of mechanical systems for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting.
• Familiar with working to design national and international codes and standards appropriate for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting industry.
• Ability to produce hydraulic calculations for mechanical equipment, equipment datasheets, specifications and schedules.
• Conversant with various HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting mechanical equipment.
