Medical Transcriptionist

Role Overview

Medical Transcriptionist at NMC Healthcare. This role involves performing document typing, formatting, transcription, and interpretation of medical dictation into diagnostic test results, operative reports, referral letters, and other clinical documentation while assisting designated departments with administrative work.

Role Purpose

To accurately transcribe and interpret medical dictation into properly formatted documents that facilitate the delivery of healthcare and maintain comprehensive patient records.

Key Responsibilities

Transcription & Documentation

• Interpret and transcribe a variety of medical reports and correspondence regarding patients' assessment, work-up, therapeutic procedures, clinical course, diagnoses, and prognosis.
• Operate and utilize designated word processing, dictation, and transcription equipment as directed to complete assignments.
• Follow department and doctor formats in preparing reports.
• Ensure quality transcription by using proper resources and proofreading own work.
• Understand diverse accents and varying dictation styles.
• Meet the required efficiency standards set by doctors and departments.

Confidentiality & Compliance

• Ensure confidentiality of all transcribed report contents.
• Comply with all Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and infection control policies, standards, and procedures.
• Work in accordance with documented OSH procedures and instructions and specific responsibilities.
• Comply with waste management procedures and policies.
• Notify OSH hazards, incidents, near misses, and issues; assist with preparation of risk assessments and incident reports.
• Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.

Administrative Support

• Assist and coordinate department administrative work as assigned.

Training & Safety

• Attend applicable OSH and infection control training programs, mock drills, and awareness programs.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School Level or equivalent qualification.
• Graduate qualification.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Medical Transcriptionist.
• Ability to transcribe medical and audio files with 100% quality.

Skills & Competencies

• Excellent listening, written, and oral communication skills, including English usage, grammar, punctuation, and style.
• Excellent command of oral and written English; Arabic desirable but not mandatory.
• Good eye, hand, and auditory coordination.
• Ability to work under pressure with time constraints.
