Mechanical Technician

Role Overview

Mechanical Technician position at ACWA Power in Field Operations, reporting administratively to the Sourcing Director.

Role Purpose

Safely accomplish the installation, maintenance, inspection and repair of heavy rotating machinery used mainly in power generation applications, including turbines. Work closely with Supervisors, HSE personnel, and the Operations Department to achieve these goals.

Key Responsibilities

Machinery Maintenance & Repair

• Read schematic drawings and technical documentation to determine proper work procedures.
• Dismantle and assemble machinery and equipment using a variety of hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
• Move machinery, parts and equipment using hoists, cranes, chain falls and trucks.
• Align machinery and equipment using hoists, squares, micrometers, dial indicators or based on laser alignment equipment specialist recommendations.
• Perform machine and component inspections using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, rules and calipers.

Operations & Compliance

• Take responsibility for control of tools, equipment and supplies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma in Technical Field; Gas Turbine Systems Technician preferred.
• Minimum two (2) years' experience maintaining, dismantling and installing machinery and industrial service equipment including various pumps, motors, fans, generators and turbines.
• Minimum experience for utilization of tooling.
• Good knowledge of power plant operations, maintenance, its equipment, practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of applicable legal, quality and HSSE requirements.

Additional Information

• Work closely with Outage Managers, Field Service Engineers and Supervisors internally.
• Build rapport with plant crews and contractors externally.
