Mechanical QC Engineer

Role Overview

Mechanical QC Engineer position with Archirodon Group N.V, a leading international Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor. The role is based in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Role Purpose

Monitor and ensure compliance of all Mechanical works phases and processes throughout design, procurement, construction and handover. Manage inspection and testing activities, maintain quality records, coordinate with third-party testing companies and client verification teams, and support the QC Manager in audits and non-conformance resolution.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Documentation & Compliance

• Assist in the preparation of quality documentation, including Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
• Review construction documents for compliance with project quality requirements related to Mechanical works.
• Prepare, file and maintain test, inspection and quality records generated related to Mechanical works.
• Where required, assist in the preparation of final documents for certification.

Monitoring & Oversight

• Monitor all phases and processes required for effective completion of Mechanical works.
• Monitor implementation of Method Statements and Inspection & Test Plans.
• Ensure all necessary records are generated in a timely manner in assigned areas of responsibility.
• Monitor the closeout of punch lists for incomplete Mechanical works.
• Monitor all measurement and testing instruments for Mechanical works to ensure functionality and calibration.
• Attend and witness all Client verification of work on site and coordinate closeout of outstanding issues.

Inspection, Testing & Witnessing

• Manage inspection and testing of Mechanical works in assigned areas of responsibility.
• Monitor the work of QC Inspectors under assigned authority.
• Witness, review and approve welder qualifications, WPS and PQR qualifications.
• Witness all NDT and Mechanical testing, including hydro testing and pneumatic testing as specified.

Coordination & Liaison

• Liaise and coordinate with third-party Testing and Inspection Companies as required.
• Manage site interface with implementation contractor QC personnel and Client QC personnel.
• Assist construction personnel to identify and resolve problems and potential or actual non-conformances.

Analysis & Quality Assurance

• Conduct statistical analysis and evaluation of test data related to Mechanical works.
• Advise the QC Manager of non-conformance occurrences.
• Raise Non-conformance Reports for non-compliant work where necessary.
• Monitor closeout and effectiveness of corrective actions undertaken.
• Where required, assist the QC Manager in undertaking periodic audits, including those of sub-contractors and suppliers, with focus on technical compliance audits in field of specialization.

Commissioning Support

• Assist in systems commissioning as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering.
• Minimum 13 years of experience in Construction phase projects (ADNOC experience is an advantage).
• ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification.
• ASNT Level II in RT, UT, MT and PT.
• CSWIP 3.1 or AWS-CWI certification.

Skills & Competencies

• Hands-on experience in welding, NDT and painting/coating.
• Knowledgeable in codes and standards and ADNOC specifications.
• Familiar with SHELL DEP specifications.
• Familiar with site fabrication, construction and erection activities.
• Good command of project quality auditing practices.
• Good communication skills.
• Able to work both independently, exercising professional judgment and coordination skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
