Mechanical Engineer - UAE National

Role Overview

Mechanical Engineer position at Wood PLC, based in Sharjah, UAE. This recruitment supports the organization's Emiratization objectives and is open to UAE Nationals who are fresh graduates or experienced professionals with up to 10 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry.

Role Purpose

To provide mechanical engineering design, analysis, and technical support for Oil & Gas and Energy projects, from initial concept through commissioning and operations, while supporting the organization's commitment to developing UAE National engineering talent.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Engineering

• Assist in the design and engineering of mechanical systems and equipment.
• Perform mechanical engineering design and analysis for Oil & Gas and Energy projects.
• Support the design, selection, and operation of pumps, compressors, turbines, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, packages, and utility equipment.

Technical Documentation and Analysis

• Support the preparation of technical specifications, datasheets, and engineering calculations.
• Prepare and review engineering deliverables including equipment datasheets, technical specifications, material requisitions, bid evaluations, mechanical calculations, and design reports.
• Participate in equipment sizing and selection activities.
• Assist in reviewing engineering drawings, vendor documents, and technical reports.
• Review vendor documentation and ensure compliance with project requirements.

Quality and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and quality standards.
• Participate in HAZOP, design reviews, constructability reviews, and risk assessments.

Operational Support

• Support maintenance and reliability initiatives for rotating and static equipment.
• Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and equipment reliability improvement programs.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, start-up, and operational phases.

Collaboration and Coordination

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including Process, Piping, Civil, Structural, Electrical, and Instrumentation disciplines.
• Participate in site surveys, inspections, and project meetings.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Assist during procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.

Continuous Improvement and Development

• Support continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

Fresh Graduates (0–2 Years)

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong academic background.
• Internship or project experience within Oil & Gas, Energy, Manufacturing, Utilities, or EPC environments is an advantage.

Experienced Candidates (3–10 Years)

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3–10 years of experience within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, LNG, Refinery, Offshore, Power, Industrial, or EPC projects.
• Experience in FEED, Detailed Design, Brownfield, Greenfield, or EPC environments is preferred.
