Role Overview
Mechanical Engineer at ACWA Power, Maintenance Department. Reports to Section Head – Mechanical / Maintenance Manager.
Role Purpose
Plan and supervise all preventive and corrective maintenance, monthly and annual outage and overhauling work activities on plant mechanical equipment under the direction of the Section Head – Mechanical / Maintenance Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Planning & Execution
- Assign preventive and corrective maintenance jobs as directed by Maintenance Manager.
- Execute work orders through CMMS (SAP) and coordinate with Planning Engineer for job completion and technical matters.
- Help Maintenance Manager execute corrective and planned maintenance in accordance with the annual scheduled maintenance plan.
- Supervise, direct and coordinate the activities of all personnel assigned to the area.
Supervision & Coordination
- Supervise and coordinate activities of maintenance staff.
- Lead the maintenance group.
- Identify competency gaps for subordinate personnel and implement necessary actions.
- Carry out annual performance evaluation of reporting employees.
- Provide on-the-job training to new employees and evaluate their OJT performance.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain records, prepare reports and compose correspondence related to work.
- Maintain necessary communications and relations to report on the status of matters requiring action and ensure corrective action is undertaken.
Procurement & Resource Management
- Perform technical evaluation of quotations received from Purchase Department and recommend appropriate choice.
- Prepare purchase requisitions for spare parts and consumables ensuring budgetary constraints.
- Arrange strategic spares availability to cope with maintenance requirements.
- Ensure effective resource utilization.
Maintenance Procedures & Compliance
- Review and recommend new maintenance procedures and work instructions.
- Ensure Legal compliance with respect to scope of activities.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance to legal requirements, contractual and organizational requirements.
Health, Safety, Environment & Management Systems
- Ensure Environmental Aspect-Impact and Hazard Risk Assessment are carried out, controlled and updated.
- Implement, monitor and report IMS objectives, Targets and programs.
- Provide necessary resources for effective implementation and sustenance of IMS.
- Report IMS performance to management periodically.
- Ensure identification of root cause for identified non-conformances and deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Identify, document and control hazards in assigned work area.
- Ensure aspects identified are monitored and operational controls are followed.
- Report deviations in Integrated Management System and identify root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Report emergencies, incidents and near misses.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's Engineering Degree (B.E.) in Mechanical from a four-year College or University.
Experience
- Minimum: 4–8 years of related experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferable: More than 8 years of related experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills & Competencies
- Awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety and Environment Management System principles.
- Knowledge of applicable legal requirements.
- Hazard Risk Assessment.
- Aspect Impact Assessment.
- Investigating skills.
- Knowledge of spillage containment.
- Knowledge of managing HSE emergencies.
- Knowledge of identification, classification and disposal of waste.
- Knowledge of Emission Monitoring.
- Excellent communication skills in English language.
- Computer literate; able to use MS Outlook for correspondence.
- Able to use SAP as end user.
Additional Information
- Perform other duties as assigned by management from time to time.
