Mechanical Engineer at AtkinsRéalis, based in the UAE. This position focuses on reviewing and ensuring compliance of MEP designs with project specifications, codes, and sustainability standards.

Role Purpose
To review and ensure compliance of MEP designs (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, district cooling, grey water treatment, and automated waste management systems) with project specifications, codes, and sustainability standards. The role involves analyzing energy efficiency, identifying design issues, providing technical recommendations, and coordinating with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate MEP systems seamlessly into building designs.
Key Responsibilities
Design Review and Compliance
- Review MEP designs for compliance with project specifications, standards, and codes including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection systems, district cooling plants, grey water treatment plants, and automatic waste management plants.
- Verify that all MEP designs comply with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of MEP designs through thorough review and analysis.
Technical Analysis and Optimization
- Analyze and optimize the energy efficiency and sustainability of mechanical systems.
- Identify design issues and discrepancies in MEP systems.
- Provide technical advice and recommendations to design teams to improve MEP system designs.
Documentation and Coordination
- Prepare and maintain detailed review reports, specifications, and other project documentation.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate MEP systems seamlessly into building designs.
Systems Knowledge
- Demonstrate knowledge of installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems.
- Apply knowledge of Mostadam and LEED sustainability standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 12 years of overall experience in MEP-related projects.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in the UAE.
- Construction supervision experience with a consultancy required.
- Buildings, high-rise, or villa project experience preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Good knowledge of basic design requirements and familiar with mechanical methodologies and installation processes and procedures.
- Detailed knowledge of construction techniques.
- Knowledge of building codes.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Competent at writing reports and presenting views clearly and concisely in good written English.
