Marine Electrician

Role Overview

Marine Electrician at Milaha, based at the shipyard.

Role Purpose

To perform all marine electrical works in the shipyard as per the direct instruction of the electrical foreman. Install, maintain, overhaul, and repair various electrical equipment systems onboard vessels and shore-based marine works.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Maintenance

• Install various electrical equipment systems onboard vessels.
• Maintain plant electrical machinery and marine works.
• Overhaul electrical equipment.
• Repair generator, navigation lights, steering control, and bow thruster systems.
• Check and repair engine alarm and monitoring systems.
• Make alarm panels.
• Perform generator synchronization and load sharing system installation.

Inspection & Testing

• Inspect and test main switch board.
• Operate stress relieving machine and prepare reports.
• Measure hardness of materials.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment.

Reporting & Communication

• Report all reworks to Quality Department.
• Report to Assistant Foreman – Electrical any deviation from schedule.
• Report in advance any risks and issues expected, repetitive unsolved problems, misconduct of team members, or unsafe acts.
• Report to line manager if no assignment or no work is issued on a daily basis.

Coordination & Collaboration

• Follow Assistant Foreman – Electrical instructions in verbal and memo forms regarding work execution and objectives implementation, however do not bypass safety and quality; report to management and QHSE if required.
• Coordinate and cooperate with other sections personnel to accomplish activities on time.
• Report to Assistant Foreman – Electrical any bottlenecks and request support.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Ensure all necessary information is available to carry out assigned duties.
• Advise and recommend procedures improvement and materials and equipment purchase to save hours and perform to high safety and quality standards available in the shipyard.
• Use approved document reporting.
• Ensure all works are carried out in a safe and high-quality manner and in compliance with the division's HSSE, Quality Assurance procedures, and Quality Manuals.
• Act towards continuous self-development and improvement.

Health, Safety & Environment

• Follow agreed safe systems of work.
• Follow training and instructions.
• Report accidents, incidents, and near misses.
• Stop work if you think the work is unsafe.
• Use complete set of PPE minimum: helmet, coverall, gloves, goggles, ear plugs, and any specific protective equipment during working hours.
• Be accountable for your acts and omissions.

Meetings & Housekeeping

• Attend daily production toolbox meetings strictly on time and ensure projected goals are met and all issues are being addressed.
• Responsible daily for housekeeping at work location (workshop or site).
• Responsible for maintaining tools and equipment in good conditions.

General

• Perform all job functions in accordance with MILAHA's Mission and Vision Core values.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School or Secondary School education.
• ITI certificate or similar in electrical trade.
• 4–6 years' experience in a similar trade.
• Heavy industry experience in electrical equipment is mandatory.
• Shipyard experience is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Basic computer knowledge (added advantage).
• Working knowledge of English or Hindi.
