Role Overview
Manager - Supervision at ADGM, Abu Dhabi. The role sits within the Supervision Department, responsible for supervising a portfolio of financial institutions in close liaison with the Senior Manager and Directors.
Company Overview
The FSRA is responsible for the regulation of Financial Services providers in the ADGM and for the supervision of regulated activities. The Supervision Division consists of the Supervision Department and the Markets Department. The Supervision Department is responsible for the supervision of banks, insurance companies, money service providers and capital markets, following a holistic, proactive risk-based approach to supervision of financial service providers.
Role Purpose
To execute the FSRA risk-based supervisory approach across a portfolio of financial institutions, enhance supervisory procedures and regulatory frameworks as required, and serve as a key member of the supervision team working effectively across all colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Framework
- Assist in developing, enhancing and implementing the framework, policies, rules and procedures for governing and supervising financial institutions.
Supervision & Risk Assessment
- Execute effective supervision of financial institutions within the FSRA risk-based supervisory plan.
- Make appropriate use of supervisory tools such as reviews, third-party reviews and information requests.
- Assist in the periodic risk assessment of firms in line with the Supervisory work plan, including planning and executing supervisory reviews.
- Draft and communicate recommendations following supervisory reviews.
- Review periodic reports on an ongoing basis.
- Conduct periodic implementation controls and progress reports in areas where deficiencies have been identified.
- Responsible for taking prompt action against deficiencies and non-compliances identified.
Compliance & Implementation
- Assist in implementing policies, rules and processes, including appropriate documentation for all assigned institutions.
- Adhere to all internal policies, procedures, standards and behaviours.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and manage relationships with stakeholders among market participants and other relevant ADGM staff.
- Liaise with other internal stakeholders such as Authorisation and other FSRA groups, as appropriate.
Reporting & Projects
- Deliver additional tasks that may be delegated from senior management.
- Participate and deliver on projects that may be allocated.
Team Leadership
- Act as a reference point and provide expertise and support to other colleagues within the Supervision team.
- Contribute towards a team culture within the Supervision team.
Information Security
- Understand, adopt, adhere and practice responsibilities and controls as per ADGM Information Security policy and as per best practices explained in induction and awareness sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality, integrity and availability of ADGM information at all times, within and outside ADGM.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree.
- Minimum 8 years of experience.
- Considerable knowledge of financial entities supervision, with sectors regulations and market practices of funds and fund/asset management considered an asset.
- Experience in the assessment of risks to identify trends and future regulatory requirements.
- Industry experience in Financial Services, for example in risk management, compliance or internal audit (desirable).
- Professional qualification in finance, accounting, risk or other related specialism (desirable).
