Manager HSES

Role Overview

Manager HSES at McDermott. This role requires comprehensive understanding of HSES concepts, theories, principles, and related disciplines to improve effectiveness, provide guidance, and influence processes and policies across the HSES discipline.

Role Purpose

The Manager HSES identifies and resolves technical, operational, and organizational problems that impact effectiveness. This role directly impacts the level of service and the HSES team's ability to meet quality and timeliness objectives. Decisions are guided by policies, resource requirements, budgets, and the business plan.

Key Responsibilities

Policy & Compliance

• Maintain complete understanding of all current HSES policies and procedures
• Interpret regulatory requirements and monitor compliance
• Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures
• Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures
• Be conversant with local and international HSES laws and regulations

Governance & Risk Management

• Facilitate HAZIDs and other risk reviews
• Lead or participate as subject matter expert in incident investigations and reporting
• Provide HSES input to Management of Change and Lessons Learned
• Prepare HSES audit plans and conduct audits
• Review and approve subcontractors and vendors for equipment and services

Planning & Performance Management

• Ensure that the correct level of manning for HSES activities is maintained
• Prepare and maintain HSES Activity Plans
• Ensure that HSES annual targets are set and improvement plans are maintained
• Develop and oversee plans to meet Objectives, Targets, and Goals
• Prepare HSES performance reports and submit to the HSES Functional Lead

Training & Competency

• Ensure that HSES training needs are identified and training is effectively conducted
• Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams
• Maintain key competencies associated with the HSES function

Operational Oversight

• Ensure that any required local and project HSES procedures are produced and implemented
• Ensure that all HSES functional personnel are performing as required
• Ensure that the performance of all subcontractors is monitored and evaluated
• Provide HSES input into look-ahead plans and reports
• Attend and provide input to forums such as kick-off meetings, constructability reviews, and readiness reviews

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in HSES-related field
• Over 8–9 years of HSE experience within the Energy Industry
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
• Trained and experienced ISO standards lead auditor (9001, 14001, or 45001)

Skills & Competencies

• Ability to work as a team member as well as act as a team leader
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
• Comprehensive understanding of HSES concepts, theories, and principles and related disciplines
• Ability to apply industry understanding to improve effectiveness and influence processes
