Role Purpose
Establish and maintain a robust quality framework that reviews the quality of investigations undertaken by the AML Transaction Monitoring team, identifies risks and remediation plans, and ensures the Bank's compliance with AML/CTF standards, regulations, and Central Bank circulars.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Reviews
- Build and maintain a robust quality framework that reviews the quality of investigation undertaken by AML TM team.
- Undertake thematic reviews in the unit as per various money laundering detection scenarios and identify risk.
- Undertake reviews on work undertaken by AML Monitoring team of Group Operations.
- Develop methods for team effectiveness, question and investigate the reliability and integrity of data, the validity of conclusions, and the appropriateness of assumptions made.
Risk Identification & Remediation
- Identify risk and build a remediation plan.
- Gather market intelligence to understand emerging typologies and undertake risk review and remediation plan.
- Assist business stakeholders to identify and analyse business risks.
Regulatory Compliance & Governance
- Review Central Bank UAE circulars to understand requirements for amending procedures and investigation approach to money laundering and terror financing risks.
- Keep abreast of related rules, regulations and best practices pertaining to AML, assess its impact on FAB.
- Ensure the Bank's Group AML Monitoring Compliance function.
- Ensure the Bank's compliance with standards and regulations.
- Meet obligations directed by the MLRO of Group Compliance or obligations mentioned in Central Bank circulars.
Stakeholder Management & Escalation
- Maintain and build effective relationships with related divisions so that effective escalation of issues is achieved and risk is managed.
- Report progress updates and raise new risks, issues or challenges as appropriate to Manager AML TM Quality Checks, AML AVP and AML VP on a daily basis via meetings, phone calls and emails.
- Report progress updates and raise new risks, issues or challenges as appropriate to Head of FLOD Compliance Operations as required via meetings, phone calls and emails.
- Report suspicious activity and raise new risks, issues or challenges as appropriate to MLRO Team as required via meetings, phone calls and emails.
Operational Excellence
- Provide operational expertise to internal working groups, teams and committees focused on enhancing current procedures and creating efficiencies.
- Maintain adequate record-keeping, management information and evidence pertaining to AML Quality Checks.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or Higher in Management, Banking or Finance, preferably with certification in compliance, AML, risk management or internal audit.
- At least 8 years of banking experience.
- Preferably 5 years in Compliance and/or Audit in Banks.
- Excellent understanding of regional laws and applicable international regulations.
- Excellent knowledge of AML/CTF applied on different business banking functions.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong interpersonal, people management and facilitation skills.
- Team player, able to meet tight deadlines and manage challenging workload.
- Focused on driving tasks to completion with pace whilst retaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Discrete and has sense for integrity and handles highly sensitive information with absolute confidentiality.
- Preferable bilingual: Fluent in English and Arabic with strong written and verbal skills.
