Role Overview

Major Item Repairer (MIR) at RTX, located onsite in El Paso, Texas (US-TX-EL PASO-M2, 7201 Montana Ave, Building M2). This is an onsite position with assignment to Kuwait.

Role Purpose

The MIR provides in-depth expertise in testing, checkout, maintenance, and repair of Patriot major end items. The role executes depot-level diagnostic, fault isolation, cleanup, and repair capability for Patriot Weapon System Major End Items, with responsibility for day-to-day execution on the Kuwait Patriot TA program and field experience in troubleshooting complex electronic and mechanical problems.

Key Responsibilities

Testing, Maintenance & Repair

• Assist with testing, checkout, maintenance, and repair of all Patriot major end items.
• Perform depot-level diagnostic, fault isolation, cleanup, and repair capability for Patriot Weapon System MEIs.
• Effect all electronic repairs on location with detailed system knowledge and available hardware and software tools.
• Provide expertise necessary to assist with single repairs and repairs involving multiple end items.

System Knowledge & Troubleshooting

• Provide in-depth system knowledge and field experience related to the theory of operation and troubleshooting skills required to resolve complex Patriot missile system Major End Items electronic and mechanical problems.
• Demonstrate proficiency with maintenance diagnostics, unit self-tests, BITE, tools, and available test equipment at Organizational and Intermediate Maintenance levels.

Integration & Preparation

• Assist with preparations, integration, and demonstration of pre and post C-3 modified systems.
• Support Department of the Army Modification Work Order (DAMWO) installations, including system integration and checkout.

Contractor & Team Support

• Act as the primary point of contact for the contractor when information is required for repair actions, procedures, and solutions.
• Provide support to KAF contact teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• Successful completion of a Patriot System Intermediate Maintenance Course for MOS 27X/94S/140L or equivalent course of instruction on a similar electronic system conducted by the military or the system contractor.
• Demonstrated four years of field maintenance experience troubleshooting, fault isolation, repair, and functional verifications of the Patriot Air Defense system or similar electronic systems using maintenance diagnostics, unit self-tests, BITE, tools, and available test equipment.
• Demonstrated experience with Department of the Army Modification Work Order (DAMWO) installations, including system integration and checkout.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• Experience with spares analysis and procurement.
• Familiarity with Turn Around Time (TAT) analysis.
• Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of related experience, or Associates Degree with 8 years of related experience, or High School Diploma/GED with 12 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five years or more of Patriot Depot Forward maintenance experience.
• Demonstrated experience with Raytheon Quality Control procedures.
• Demonstrated experience with Patriot refurbishment, modification, and Enhanced Deep Maintenance.
• Experience using program management tools such as Earned Value Management System (EVMS), Integrated Master Plan (IMP)/Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), Risk and Opportunity Management, or similar business processes.
• Demonstrated experience with Contractor Logistics Support.
• Demonstrated comprehensive planning skills.
• Exceptional judgment and decision-making skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with special focus on achieving active participation of appropriate individuals across the business.
• Demonstrated experience with training of team members.
• Previous experience in International Patriot FMS Programs.
• Experience living and working in an overseas location.
• Raytheon Six Sigma Certified.

Skills & Competencies

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
• Proficiency in creating tailored reports in Microsoft Excel from external and often compiled data sources.
• Advanced experience using inventory, maintenance, and baseline configuration control database software systems.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Project.

Additional Information

Security & Citizenship

• Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• DoD Clearance: Secret level required on day 1.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $86,800 USD to $165,200 USD.

Work Environment

• Onsite position; employees work primarily onsite as essential to the development of products.
• This is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
