Maintenance Planner

Role Purpose

The Maintenance Planner develops, coordinates, and optimizes maintenance schedules for equipment and machinery to ensure maximum reliability and minimal downtime. The role requires strong organizational skills, technical understanding, and cross-functional collaboration to execute maintenance activities safely, efficiently, and on time while supporting operational productivity and long-term asset performance.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Scheduling

• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules.
• Plan and coordinate corrective, predictive, and emergency maintenance.
• Create detailed job plans including required tools, materials, labor, and time estimates.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with operations and engineering teams to schedule with minimal disruption.
• Review and prioritize incoming work requests.

Work Order Management

• Create and manage work orders using CMMS software.
• Ensure availability of spare parts and tools for scheduled tasks.
• Develop and maintain spare parts storage, inventory and control.
• Raise purchase requisitions for spare parts requirements.
• Communicate with vendors and contractors for outsourced maintenance work and maintenance spare parts.

Monitoring & Analysis

• Monitor equipment performance and maintenance history.
• Track and report on maintenance key performance indicators and performance metrics.
• Analyze work order feedback and maintenance performance data to improve future plans, update equipment history, and refine maintenance techniques.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective action planning.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Promote a safe work culture, including LOTO and permit-to-work systems.
• Participate in ISO audit and develop maintenance procedures.
• Implement and sustain 5S methodologies to improve housekeeping, efficiency, and equipment accessibility.

Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.

Documentation & Systems

• Ensure accurate documentation and history for all maintenance work.
• Administrate the Computerized Maintenance Management System by adding new assets and sub-assets, creating asset codes, importing maintenance tasks, and importing spare parts for each asset.
• Maintain accurate data, asset history, and documentation within the Computerized Maintenance Management System.

Qualifications & Experience

• Technical Diploma or Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering with 7+ years in maintenance field and 3+ years as Maintenance Planner.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent preferred with 5+ years in maintenance field and 3+ years as Maintenance Planner.
• Proven experience as a Maintenance Planner or similar role.
• Experience in the automotive industry is a plus.
• Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional certification is a plus.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of maintenance procedures and equipment.
• Expertise with CMMS systems such as SAP PM, Maximo, or Fiix.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong inventory management capabilities.
• Multitasking skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability.
• Ability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals.
• Familiarity with quality tools including FMEA, 5 Whys, and Fishbone Diagram.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of CAD and SolidWorks is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Understanding of safety and compliance regulations.
• Ability to work under pressure.

• Valid driver's license in Saudi Arabia required.
