Role Overview

Machinist at Ejqa, based in a shipyard environment.

Role Purpose

Operate and maintain machinery equipment in a shipyard setting, performing precision machining work in compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operations

• Operate all types of machines in the shipyard, including milling machines, lathe machines, shaping machines, slotting machines, and similar equipment.
• Perform all kinds of machine works as assigned.
• Read and interpret job drawings for all assigned tasks.

Safety & Quality

• Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner and in compliance with divisional Quality Assurance procedures and Quality Manuals.
• Follow agreed safe systems of work.
• Follow all training and instructions provided.
• Report accidents, incidents, and near misses.
• Exercise authority to stop work if the work is deemed unsafe.

Communication

• Communicate with shipyard personnel and other section teams during work.
• Communicate with personnel inside the organization as required.
• Communicate with people in the region during work activities.

General

• Execute any other duties and responsibilities assigned by Management.

Qualifications & Experience

• I.T.I. training or Technical training school certificate in the trade of machinist.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in similar trade.
• Heavy engineering industries experience in machining required.
• Shipyard experience preferred.
• Experience certificate from heavy engineering organizations.
• Records of good company work experience.

Skills & Competencies

• English language skills preferential.
