Wynn Al Marjan Island is an integrated resort scheduled to open in 2027, located less than 50 miles from Dubai International Airport. The resort will feature 1,530 rooms and suites, 22 restaurants and lounges, a theater, nightclub, and five-star spa on a picturesque island in the Arabian Gulf.

Role Purpose

To operate, set up, and maintain workshop machinery and welding equipment while producing precision metal parts and assemblies to specification. This role supports the Logistics Centre team and mentors junior staff in safe fabrication practices and process excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Equipment Management

• Operate and set up lathes, milling machines, shears, press brakes, band saws, grinders, and other workshop equipment to produce parts or assemblies to specification.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD prints, and CAFM work orders; set up tooling and fixtures; perform precision measuring and inspection.
• Perform basic operator's routine maintenance, equipment cleaning, and basic troubleshooting on machines; report and coordinate repairs with maintenance and manufacturer's technical staff.

Welding & Fabrication

• Weld in different metals using diverse welding techniques (TIG/MIG/SMAW).
• Demonstrate welding and fabrication processes to junior welders and technicians.

Production & Quality

• Maintain accurate production records including material usage, time logs, and quality checks.
• Communicate clearly with internal teams about progress, lead times, technical constraints, and challenges.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Work collaboratively with metal workshop welders and other Facilities team members to understand timelines and requirements to meet quality standards.
• Support junior welders and technicians by demonstrating safe machine operation.
• Enforce safe working practices with junior staff and lead by example.

Continuous Improvement & Sustainability

• Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting process, tooling, or layout changes that increase efficiency or quality.
• Support sustainability efforts by minimizing scrap, segregating waste streams, and recommending material-efficient practices.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Ensure compliance with workplace regulations, welding codes, and material handling standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and participate in shop safety audits and toolbox talks.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Relevant metal workshop apprenticeship completion certificate from reputable vocational and industrial training institute.
• Welding certificate as per ISO9606-1 or EN1090.
• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in metal fabrication, machining, or a related trade; experience in a production workshop preferred.
• Proven proficiency operating lathes, milling machines, shears, press brakes, and welding equipment (MIG/TIG/Stick as applicable).

Skills & Competencies

• Strong blueprint reading skills and experience with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Experience with materials such as mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum; familiarity with heat treatment and surface finishes is an added advantage.
• Fair spoken and written English; additional languages are an added advantage.
• Positive attitude with a "never say no" mindset and a passion for continuous improvement.
