Role Purpose

To protect all hotel property, guests, employees and visitors by guarding facilities, monitoring security systems, enforcing access control procedures, conducting patrols and responding to security incidents in compliance with company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Property Protection & Incident Response

• Guard and protect all hotel property, car parks, information, documentation, material, building and equipment from unauthorized access, theft or sabotage.
• Respond to and provide assistance to corporate security, other Loss Prevention team members, employees, visitors and emergency response personnel in security and safety related situations, demonstrating common sense and good judgment.
• Comply with additional responsibilities set forth in special orders, manuals and procedures issued by the Corporate Office.
• Collaborate with security and assist law enforcement agencies in connection with crimes committed, including maintaining the scene to protect possible evidence in accordance with established procedures.
• Assist in the conduct of inquiries related to losses and thefts of site and personal property, employee misconduct and other security related incidents.
• Document and report security officer participation in inquiries to the site security supervisor and submit incident reports.
• Assist in big events and festivals organized by the property.

Security Systems Monitoring

• Respond to all alarm conditions in a timely manner.
• Monitor and respond to security alarms, intrusion detection systems and other protection devices or equipment as detailed in hotel/resort policies.
• Monitor the fire protection system and ensure that in the event of a fire, access by the fire department is not restricted.
• Remain effectively trained and familiar with evacuation procedures.
• Monitor building and car park conditions and alarm systems such as gas, fire, heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
• Report unusual occurrences as required by post orders to site/property security supervisors.
• Monitor site/property security systems and infrastructure and submit work orders or report to site/property security supervisor to initiate repairs.
• Monitor CCTV and inspect monitors using a proper checklist form for each camera by zone and report any deficiency in the system.
• Monitor the command center and issue visitor passes following site safety and security policy and procedures.
• Inspect on a daily basis or as assigned the fire suppression system and fire extinguishers and submit reports to site/property security management and engineering.

Access, Egress and Patrolling

• Enforce all access control procedures through identification of personnel and visitors at the command center and control of entrances and exits.
• Enforce control of gate passes over removal of property, documents or equipment as identified by site/property management.
• Immediately report to authorized security supervisor when required incidents involving persons attempting to gain, gaining or who have gained unauthorized access to facilities and surrounding areas.
• Conduct routine and random patrols throughout the site at different zones with varied routes to prevent establishing a pattern.
• Drive safely only on designated routes within the property following rules and regulations of site/property management; assume full responsibility for any incidents resulting from unsafe conduct.
• Conduct perimeter patrol by inspecting the entire perimeter using the guard tour system PROXYPEN or any patrolling system in place and submit work orders to property security supervisor and engineering when necessary.
• During patrolling or fixed posted security, assist guests/visitors and act as customer service by providing directions.
• Inspect all site buildings and facilities after closing hours and ensure all doors are locked and secured.
• Detect trespassers or persons who gain or attempt unauthorized access to restricted areas such as electrical and mechanical rooms, offices, car parks, restaurants, gift shops, swimming pools, public toilets, First Aid center and prayer rooms by monitoring CCTV in the security control center and conducting random patrols, which may require two security staff at a time, especially at night.
• Hand out day passes to visitors and complete provided paperwork for day passes.
• Question and check ID as instructed by site/property management.
• Monitor all deliveries and suppliers accessing the site; ensure delivery vehicles have visible company identification at all times.
• Admit only authorized personnel to the facility during and after normal working hours.
• Report and stop any misbehavior observed during patrolling and inform the site/property security supervisor immediately; write reports according to site rules and regulations.
• Stop any contractor not holding a work permit to work on site/property and report to site/property security supervisor and engineering department where applicable.
• Provide traffic, parking and pedestrian control services if needed and requested by site/property management.
• Conduct searches of vehicles and hand carried items when risk category is raised to RED level to ensure that prohibited articles are not introduced onto or removed from the site/property.
• Standardize vehicle searches as per site/property management and conduct in accordance with written directions when risk category is raised to RED level.
• Keep parking areas clean and orderly to ensure space usage is maximized.
• Patrol parking areas to prevent vehicle damage and vehicle or property thefts.
• Inspect vehicles to detect any damage.
• Lift, position and remove barricades to open or close parking areas.
• Escort customers to their vehicles to ensure their safety if requested.
• Patrol and use checklist for parking lot inspection covering lighting, signage, electronic access controls, intrusion detection, emergency phones and intercoms, emergency exits, lifts and gate systems.

Training & Documentation

• Develop, maintain and document a training plan.
• Conduct formal job task analysis and use in the development of the plan with advice and approval of property loss prevention/security department.
• Document training and certification of security officers and other property team members in the skills, concepts and other requirements as outlined in the contract.

Qualifications & Experience

• 1–5 years of experience in the same field.
