Role Overview

Locum Patient Care Assistant – OBGYN Inpatient at King's College Hospital London.

Role Purpose

Support the nursing team and doctors in delivering high-quality patient care on the obstetrics and gynaecology inpatient unit. Work in line with evidence-based guidelines and unit-specific competencies to ensure safe and effective patient care, and facilitate patients smoothly through the clinic pathway under the direction of the sister or Senior Nurse.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Records and Documentation

• Support the upkeep of computer-based patient records in line with health record policy.

Operations and Stock Management

• Assist colleagues with the smooth running of the hospital by providing cover and assistance as required.
• Assist in ensuring daily stock levels are adequate and all treatment and consulting rooms are prepared and stocked for the day ahead.
• Report stock issues promptly to senior nursing staff.

Administrative and Clerical Support

• Assist with administrative and clerical duties to ensure effective operations within the clinical setting.
• Perform reception duties, including manning telephones, registering patients on the electronic system, and ensuring competent knowledge of the patient pathway.
• Provide information accurately and courteously, adhering to the telephone answering script.

General Duties

Qualifications & Experience

• Any healthcare diploma or degree.
• Worked in a hospital or similar setting for at least 2 years.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in basic computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with the ability to manage digital documentation and communication effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and stakeholders.
