Locum Cardiology Registered nurse - OPD (3 months contract)

Role Overview

Locum Cardiology Registered Nurse – Outpatient Department at King's College Hospital London. This is a three-month contract position.

Role Purpose

Deliver professional nursing care to assigned patients in the outpatient cardiology facility. Record patient histories, perform diagnostic tests, administer medications, develop patient care plans in conjunction with medical professionals, and assist physicians during examinations and procedures while operating and monitoring medical equipment as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Assessment and Care Planning

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient needs on an ongoing basis.
• Develop patient care plans in conjunction with other medical professionals.
• Record patient histories and perform various diagnostic tests.
• Administer medications as prescribed.

Clinical Operations

• Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
• Operate and monitor medical equipment as necessary.
• Maintain good quality legible contemporaneous patient health records in line with KCH policy on health care record keeping.

Patient and Stakeholder Communication

• Ensure that all patients and their relatives are updated regularly with accurate information presented in a sensitive way they understand.
• Support patients, caretakers and relatives and involve them in care as appropriate.
• Provide health education to promote healthy lifestyles.
• Ensure relevant information regarding patients' needs and condition are communicated to the multidisciplinary team and that any instructions are acted upon.

Standards and Compliance

• Deliver a high standard of evidence-based care to patients at KCH.
• Adhere to Dubai Health Authority (DHA) guidelines.
• Uphold high standards of care in all departments of KCH.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Have due regard for each patient's cultural and religious beliefs and respect each patient's privacy, dignity, gender and sexuality.
• Actively support the implementation of centre nursing and local strategy and uphold the ethos of the centre.

Quality and Governance

• Participate in nursing audits as required.
• Report adverse incidents in line with KCH policy for investigation and participate in the investigation process.
• Work flexibly across the organization as required to maintain safe staffing levels or as identified as a personal development need in the appraisal process.

Qualifications & Experience

• UAE Medical Health Authority License (DHA).
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Minimum two years of work in a hospital or similar setting.
• Resuscitation Certificate as per the specialty.
• Demonstrable ongoing and active Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
