Local Business Unit Controller

Role Overview

Local Business Unit Controller at Hitachi Energy L.L.C, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Full-time position responsible for all financial and commercial matters of the Domestic Sales Unit project portfolio in the UAE market.

Role Purpose

Act as business partner to the Local Domestic Sales Unit Project Manager(s), driving financial performance and commercial success across the DSU project portfolio. Provide expert financial and commercial guidance throughout tender, execution, and closure phases while ensuring strict compliance and governance.

Key Responsibilities

Tender Management

• Lead tender stage reviews and take joint responsibility with Tender Manager on Financial, commercial and tax aspects.
• Ensure tender calculation is completed correctly.
• Prepare cash-flow and exposure curve.
• Participate and provide input during negotiations on contractual terms and conditions with clients, consortia, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Participate and provide input in local risk review process.

Project Execution

• Prepare Project Financial Execution Plan covering all financial, commercial and tax aspects including revenue recognition methods, billing plan, payment securities, consortium administration, import duties and VAT.
• Ensure correctness of project balance sheet and income statement.
• Manage cash flow and monthly/quarterly forecast.
• Guide and validate project invoices.
• Manage currency risk, tax issues, bonds and guarantees.
• Manage revenues and GM contribution jointly with Project Manager.

Monitoring & Governance

• Establish project governance process.
• Participate in opportunity and risk identification.
• Ensure all required mitigation actions are timely implemented.
• Drive, coordinate and prepare monthly project reviews jointly with Project Manager.
• Take joint responsibility with Project Manager for all financial aspects including estimate at completion and related cost-to-complete.
• Forecast revenues and cash flow.
• Assess risks and opportunities.
• Ensure alignment with other functions including Project Controls, planning and scheduling.

Financial Reporting

• Deliver monthly closings, forecasts, budgets and full financial packages on time.
• Ensure accuracy and reliability of all reporting.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders and business managers to support operational decision-making.
• Monitor KPIs to optimize cost structures and improve productivity.
• Perform quality checks on reporting data.
• Conduct analytical reviews of major fluctuations and FX impacts.
• Drive transparency in financial reporting and disclosures.
• Conduct ad-hoc financial analyses.
• Contribute to transformation initiatives.

Compliance & Internal Control

• Follow up on internal project audit reports.
• Ensure timely implementation of all required actions related to projects under responsibility.
• Adhere to corporate governance, integrity, assurance, internal control, group charter and business-specific finance directives and instructions.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or equivalent with solid finance background.
• Professional Accounting qualification is a plus.
• Experience in Finance with exposure to Project Business.
• Experience with SAP.
