Role Purpose
To perform day-to-day maintenance and servicing of all recreation areas, including pool areas and gym, in order to provide recreation services to Club members and guests that exceed expectations and maintain the reputation of the Club.
Key Responsibilities
Generic Duties
- Report for duty in the recreation area as determined by the Recreation Manager.
- Maintain a well-groomed appearance at all times, wearing the complete uniform including name badge, and maintain good personal hygiene.
- Greet and welcome all visitors to the recreation areas of the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club.
- Recognize hazardous situations and take immediate action to solve members' and guests' problems, ensuring mutually agreeable solutions are reached at the earliest convenient time.
- Keep the Recreation Manager and Fitness Professional informed of members' and guests' problems and action taken.
- Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed to prevent accidents or injury to Club members, guests, and fellow workers.
- Report any accident or potential hazards, including maintenance requirements, to the Recreation Manager.
- Deliver basic first aid and arrange further assistance if required for any injuries to pool visitors; perform CPR if needed.
- Support and assist colleagues as necessary to contribute to a cohesive working team.
- Promote all services related to recreation provided in the Club to guests and members.
- Follow the Club's policies, procedures, and rules at all times, including prevention of loss or damage to Club property or revenue.
- Attend training courses as determined by the Recreation Manager and business needs, including annual fire and health and safety training, to keep abreast of current trends and develop skills.
- Cover gym area when necessary.
Pool Duties
- Request all pool visitors to sign the guest book on arrival, check details if appropriate, and document them; if not appropriate (non-member), request identification and issue a day pass ticket if not obtained; report any unauthorized use to the Recreation Supervisor or Recreation Manager.
- Clean, distribute, and set up poolside furniture according to members' and guests' needs, clearing all sun bed cushions at the end of the day.
- Assist pool visitors with menus, ensuring refreshments are available in a clean and hygienic manner.
- Distribute towels frequently to meet members' and guests' needs.
- Add chlorine and pool chemicals on a daily basis and test water levels three times per day; record the readings and file them.
- Check and maintain filtration pumps and valves.
- Vacuum and clean pools, backwash, wash the pool deck, and clean skimmers on a daily basis, ensuring these areas are clean and tidy at all times.
Ancillary Duties
- Participate in various extra activities contributing towards individual and organizational growth in line with the Club's strive for continuous improvement.
- Represent the department or a group in various committees such as the Staff Committee.
- Be trained as a Fire Marshal or First Aider.

- Apply the 4 Service Steps throughout serving internal and external customers.
IT Security Awareness
- Read, understand, and comply with all applicable Information Security Policies and Procedures of Wasl DG.
- Cooperate, coordinate, and share information with Internal and External Audit teams as appropriate and applicable.
- Attend Information Security Awareness sessions conducted by the Wasl IT Department.
- Immediately report all Information Security breaches, events, weaknesses, and incidents (actual or suspected breaches) to the IT Service Desk.
Qualifications & Experience
- Secondary education or GCE Ordinary level.
- National Pool Lifeguard qualification (must be valid); if not available, equivalent qualification from home country.
- CPR Qualification is a must.
- First Aid certificate holder.
- Previous experience in a similar position for 2 years.
Skills & Competencies
- Good physical fitness and pleasing appearance.
- Fluency in English is a must.
- Communication skills in English.
- Telephone techniques.
- Water treatment knowledge with chemicals.
- Pool water testing knowledge (durable).
