The German International School Abu Dhabi (GISAD) is a recognized German international school currently serving approximately 550 students from kindergarten through Abitur. In summer 2021, the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge rated GISAD as one of the best schools in Abu Dhabi. The school holds the "Exzellente Deutsche Auslandsschule" (Excellent German International School) seal awarded by the Federal-Länder Inspection. For several years, the school has enrolled up to eight Emirati children per year in its kindergarten integration program.

Role Purpose

To provide qualified specialist instruction and pastoral care to elementary students in grades 1-4, serving as a class teacher and contributing actively to the school's multilingual, integrative learning environment and overall development.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction and Class Leadership

• Deliver qualified subject instruction in grades 1–4.
• Assume class leadership responsibilities in grades 1–4.
• Teach subjects outside your primary specialization where agreed upon.
• Offer willingness to teach German as a Foreign Language (DaF) and language-sensitive instruction where needed.

Collaboration and Professional Development

• Participate actively in subject area working groups.
• Assume subject area leadership roles where appropriate.
• Collaborate closely with the DaF coordinator, elementary school leadership, and school leadership.
• Engage in evaluation and continuous professional development.
• Contribute actively to the dynamic development of the school.

Co-Curricular Activities

• Lead and conduct working groups and enrichment activities.
• Plan and design out-of-classroom activities including class trips, excursions, and projects.
• Organize and deliver school events.

Qualifications & Experience

• Completed teacher training qualification (second state examination) for elementary school.
• Minimum two years of work experience; alternatively, two years of continuous teacher internship (Referendariat).
• Preferred experience in German as a Foreign Language (DaF) and language-sensitive instruction (DFU).
• Interest in competency-oriented instruction with cooperative and open learning formats (Flexklasse).
