Role Overview

Legal Counsel at Al Ghurair.

Role Purpose

Ensure the Business Unit's activities comply with local laws, international trade regulations, and internal governance standards while managing legal risks, disputes, and contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Governance

• Ensure that the activities of the Business Unit adhere to the legal framework and prevailing laws of the country and international trade.
• Review processes, policies, and governance for continuous improvement of legal service levels.

Dispute Resolution & Risk Management

• Work closely with the Head of Dispute Resolution on strategic initiatives.
• Keep management informed about any lawsuits filed and/or with a possibility of being filed, and make best endeavors to settle cases amicably in favor of the Business Unit.
• Take legal action against any party who breaches a signed agreement, including but not limited to contractors, consultants, designers, employees, clients, suppliers, brokers, and business introducers.

Contract Review & Legal Documentation

• Review contracts with contractors, consultants, project managers, suppliers, subcontractors, designers, and architects according to construction laws and regulations, ensuring that the benefits and rights of the Business Unit are fully reserved and secured.
• Issue legal notices, letters, warranties, guarantees, and other documents as required in a manner that serves the purpose of the documents without exposing the Business Unit to unnecessary risk and liability.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 7–10 years of previous experience in law firms or corporations in a similar position.
• Bachelor's Degree in Law.
• Admitted before Bar.
• Master's Degree (asset).
• Knowledge of SOP, IMS, and other standards.

• Demonstrate supervisory skills.
