Lecturer in General Education

Role Overview

The University of Kalba invites applications for a Lecturer in General Education within the fields of Education or Social Sciences and Humanities, under the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, located at the University of Kalba.

Role Purpose

The Lecturer will contribute to the delivery of interdisciplinary General Education courses across the University and play a key role in advancing the University's General Education mission by fostering critical thinking, ethical reasoning, cultural literacy, and interdisciplinary understanding among undergraduate students.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Course Delivery

• Deliver high-quality undergraduate General Education courses using engaging, inclusive, and student-centered teaching methodologies.
• Teach across a range of foundational courses, including but not limited to Islamic Studies, Arab Society, Introduction to Education, Sport Pedagogy, Sport History, and Sport Philosophy.
• Employ innovative pedagogical approaches, including active learning, experiential learning, and technology-enhanced instruction.

Curriculum Development and Assessment

• Contribute to the development, review, and continuous enhancement of course syllabi in alignment with institutional learning outcomes and accreditation requirements.
• Design, administer, and evaluate assessments aligned with course learning outcomes.

Student Support

• Provide academic advising and mentoring to students, supporting their academic progression and intellectual development.

Collaboration and Service

• Participate in college-level committees, curriculum development activities, and academic service as required.
• Collaborate with faculty across the College and other colleges to ensure coherence within the General Education Framework.
• Support university initiatives related to community engagement, cultural awareness, and educational outreach.

Professional Development

• Engage in continuous professional development related to teaching excellence, interdisciplinary education, and curriculum innovation.

Qualifications & Experience

• Master's degree in Education, Social Sciences, Humanities, or a closely related field from an accredited institution; PhD preferred.
• Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate courses in higher education.
• Ability to teach effectively across more than one General Education subject area.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong pedagogical skills and experience with student-centered, outcomes-based teaching practices.
• Ability to situate foundational knowledge within broader social, cultural, ethical, and educational contexts.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in both Arabic and English (required).
