Role Overview
Learning Support Assistant at International Schools Partnership. Based at The Aquila School.

Role Purpose
To support children's learning and progress across the curriculum under the direction of the teacher, encourage pupil independence, and assist teachers in the day-to-day running of the classroom while maintaining safeguarding and wellbeing standards.
Key Responsibilities
Pupil Learning & Support
- Work with groups and individuals to support learning across the curriculum under teacher direction, including delivery of intervention programmes.
- Encourage independence by helping children achieve their objectives through questioning, dialogue, demonstrating and modelling rather than doing the work for them.
- Engage pupils in meaningful talk at all opportunities to develop language and build relationships.
- Work closely with teachers to ensure effective communication—both oral and written—concerning pupil progress and learning.
Behaviour Management & Supervision
- Manage pupil behaviour in a positive manner and be a positive role model in line with The Aquila Way on behaviour, including giving golden tickets and acknowledging children who have made good choices.
- Supervise children on trips, at break times, travelling around the school, swimming and PE lessons.
- Provide bus supervision as a backup when required.
Classroom & School Operations
- Prepare resources and be responsible for specific areas to support the day-to-day running of the school.
- Work alongside the teacher and children to create interactive and relevant displays to support learning and celebrate achievement.
- Meet at least weekly with the teaching team.
- Be proactive in knowing the expectations of your work for each session.
- Carry out any tasks required by the school or regional office to facilitate smooth day-to-day running.

Safeguarding
- Share responsibility to ensure that children are safe and properly supervised at all times.
- Be consistent in identifying potential safeguarding and Health & Safety issues and act and follow up on all concerns appropriately.

Additional Information
Hours of Work
Core working hours are 7:25am to 3:25pm Monday to Thursday and 7:25am to 12:00pm on Fridays.
In addition, Learning Support Assistants must either run breakfast club (6:30am to 7:30am, 5 days a week) or after school club (2:45pm to 4:25pm, 5 days a week—two weeks on, one week off or equivalent).
Learning Support Assistants also work as backup for bus supervision when required.
Holidays
As per the school KHDA approved calendar.
Reporting
Line managed by the relevant HLTA (High Level Teaching Assistant).
Vetting & Background Checks
All post holders are subject to appropriate vetting procedures, including an online due diligence search, references and satisfactory Criminal Background Checks or equivalent covering the previous 10 years' employment history.
