Role Overview
Lead Weight Control Engineer at Technip Energies, based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Reports directly to the Head of the Department.

Role Purpose
Lead the development, implementation, and management of weight control procedures and reporting throughout all project phases from concept through EPC and operations. Ensure accurate weight tracking, budget compliance, and coordination across all engineering disciplines to support safe and efficient offshore project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Weight Control Strategy & Procedures
- Develop and implement project-specific Weight Control Procedures
- Develop Weight Breakdown Structure aligned with project requirements
- Establish Weight Contingency philosophy as per project phase
- Assess various weight-limiting scenarios and define NTE (Not To Exceed) values
- Develop weight databases to support project tracking and reporting
Weight Monitoring & Growth Control
- Develop and implement weight growth monitoring and tracking mechanisms
- Prepare and issue Weight Control Reports, Weight Status Reports, Weight Growth Registers, and Weight Forecast Reports
- Monitor weight impact of Technical Queries (TQs), Site Queries (SQs), and Management of Change (MOC) requests
- Actively participate in Management of Change reviews and identify weight impacts
- Support weight optimization initiatives
Design & CoG Coordination
- Evaluate Center of Gravity (CoG) for all items and define CoG envelopes for design-sensitive structures
- Assess Lifting, Transportation, and Installation CoG requirements
- Coordinate with Marine Warranty Surveyor on weight-related requirements
Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Coordinate with all disciplines for weight and CoG data collection
- Review and validate discipline weight inputs for accuracy
- Review various discipline deliverables including Structural MTOs, Piping MTOs, Vendor data, E&I layouts, HVAC layouts, and Architectural drawings to collect weight data
- Manage interfaces with Structural, Piping, Mechanical, E&I, HVAC, HSE, and Architectural disciplines
- Coordinate with Clients, PMC, Certifying Authorities, Marine Warranty Surveyor, Fabrication Contractors, Vendors, and Installation Contractors
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Master's degree preferred but not mandatory
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in Offshore Oil and Gas Projects
- Minimum 10+ years of dedicated experience in Weight Control Reporting activities
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining Weight Control Reports throughout all Project Phases from Concept to EPC and for all applicable design phases (Loadout, Transportation, Lifting, Operating phases)
- Proven experience in Fixed Offshore Platform Jacket & Topsides weight reporting
- Proven experience in managing weight budgets and weight growth control on major Offshore Projects
- Experience in Brownfield Projects
- Experience with Offshore Bridges, Flare structures, and Modules
- Familiarity with ADNOC, ARAMCO, and QP/QG weight reporting practices

- Client interaction and interface management skills
- Multidisciplinary coordination experience across Structural, Piping, Mechanical, E&I, HVAC, HSE, and Architectural disciplines
- English language fluency required
