Lead Telecom Engineer

Role Overview

Wood is recruiting a Lead Telecom Engineer to join its Projects team in Muscat, Oman, focusing on delivering across FEED and Detail design scopes of work.

Role Purpose

Plan, implement and manage FEED Office projects and assist IM&T (Applications, Telecoms, Computing and Information Management) projects to deliver within scope, cost and time.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Scope Management

• Study, review and identify scope from input documents of previous project phases.
• Develop Terms of Reference (TOR) for each project under area of responsibility in consultation with relevant IM&T Portfolio Analysts.
• Develop CTR estimate and provide inputs to project execution plan and schedule as necessary.
• Conduct and attend relevant workshops and framing sessions related to project execution in accordance with project schedule.

Procurement & Resource Management

• Create and manage Project MTO of Telecom in SAP.
• Plan and execute procurement activities as per agreed implementation strategy and in line with C&P guidelines.
• Manage contractors as per corporate guidelines stipulated under IMT-502 List.
• Manage internal resources for implementation of FEED Office projects and activities associated with FEED Office standards and procedures.

Quality & Compliance

• Review key project deliverables and liaise with IM&T team ensuring FEED Office standards compliance.
• Supervise and ensure alignment of Quality System requirement for all projects executed in FEED Office.
• Participate in quality audits and own responsibility for resolving any findings, NCR and improvements raised for Telecoms.

Project Execution & Performance

• Execute allocated projects in line with project plan, actively participating in all phases of the project.
• Identify, assess and manage risks to project success.
• Maintain, review and monitor Project Cost Performance Index and Schedule Performance Index for projects under execution.
• Manage and execute FEED Office projects and ensure completion within agreed time scale while maintaining Company standards.
• Ensure project handover and demonstrate handover as per FEED Office standards.
• Complete technical closeouts as per FEED Office standards.

Continuous Improvement & Governance

• Actively involve in CI and Lean Management with regards to FEED Office procedures and project management.
• Adopt and implement Project Management best practices in line with directives from FEED Office, IM&T project office and corporate guidelines.
• Provide input to project Value Assurance Reviews during major stage gates of key projects.

Qualifications & Experience

• BSc Engineering in Telecoms, Computing, Engineering, Science or related fields.
• Minimum 15 years in FEED/Engineering experience.
• Minimum 10 years relevant experience in Oil & Gas.
• Sound knowledge in Exploration & Production Engineering business activities or in-depth knowledge within respective portfolio discipline.
• Comprehensive knowledge of relevant project life-cycles.
• Proven track record in customer relationship management.
