Role Purpose

Lead, direct, and oversee all Technical Safety Engineer (Process Safety) engineering activities for onshore and offshore oil & gas developments across the full project lifecycle, including Concept Studies, FEED, and Detailed Engineering. Serve as the discipline technical authority, providing engineering leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, maintainable, and cost-effective Technical Safety Engineer solutions that comply with client requirements, applicable standards, project schedules, and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Process Safety Leadership

• Act as the single focal point of contact for leading, coordinating, planning, and supervising Safety Engineering assigned to the project to ensure improvement in efficiency and quality of work performed.
• Provide engineering leadership and act as the focal point for Technical Safety Engineering while facilitating effective multidisciplinary coordination.
• Work independently and create a positive work environment.
• Complete integration with other team members: engineers, designers, and technical personnel in the execution of the project.

Technical Studies and Workshops

• Conduct, organize, lead, and facilitate workshops such as PHA, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and LOPA, and follow up with recommendations and findings.
• Responsible for reviewing third-party safety studies including QRA, FERA, and F&G mapping study.
• Perform fire and explosion analysis, including dispersion analysis.

Engineering Design and Analysis

• Perform engineering tasks applying international standards (IEC, NFPA, API, and equivalent) and including required interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
• Develop and check calculations, data sheets, technical notes, requisitions, specifications, drawings, and similar deliverables produced within the discipline.
• Conduct hazardous area classification, schedule, and layout.
• Design fire protection design basis.
• Design fire water networks.
• Calculate and size fire water pumps and fire water tanks.
• Calculate and design fixed firewater spray systems.
• Calculate and design fixed foam systems.
• Calculate and design fixed gaseous firefighting systems.
• Design fire and gas detection systems.
• Conduct firewater demand calculations and equipment requirements.
• Design industrial drainage and equipment.
• Demonstrate sufficient knowledge of hazard and risk management, fire and explosion analysis, fire protection related studies, formal safety assessments, compartmentation, and emergency evacuation routes.

Software and Modeling

• Apply good working knowledge in PIPENET, DNV PHAST, and other consequence modeling software.
• Demonstrate proficiency in industry-standard process safety engineering software and applications, including PHAST and Flare Sim equivalent.

Technical Procurement and Vendor Management

• Supervise and perform technical procurement services including material take-off and material requisitions for fire protection packages.
• Conduct bid evaluations including technical clarifications and technical evaluation reports.
• Review vendor prints.
• Manage vendor print reviews and provide technical leadership to ensure that applicable procedures and standards (client, KBR, and international) are correctly applied.

Design Reviews and Quality Assurance

• Study and review contract conditions included in customers' tenders.
• Manage the fire protection part of internal and external design reviews, 3D model reviews, value engineering reviews, and constructability reviews.
• Perform quality assurance, quality control, and monitoring of engineering deliverables, activities, and outputs including consistency checks, review of technical quality, assurance of technical compliance with project specifications and requirements, technical support and direction, and management of internal and external quality audits.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 17 years of Technical Safety Engineer experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, LNG, or Energy sectors.
• Minimum 8 to 10 years in a Lead Engineer, Senior Lead Engineer, or equivalent leadership capacity.
• Demonstrated experience delivering both offshore and onshore brownfield and greenfield projects.
• Extensive working knowledge of ADNOC Group projects, engineering practices, and technical standards.
• Proven experience across FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, PMC, Construction, and Commissioning environments.
• Strong exposure to offshore production facilities, wellhead platforms, central processing facilities, and related infrastructure.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university.
• Experience with ADNOC offshore, PMC, or Client representation is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Comprehensive understanding of international standards including API, IEC, ISA, NFPA, NACE, BS EN, and operator-specific standards such as ADNOC requirements.
• Thorough understanding of FEED and Detailed Engineering deliverables, document management systems, MOC processes, and project controls.
• Demonstrated experience in Process Safety and knowledge of project engineering practices, international codes, standards, procedures, and specifications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and technical decision-making capabilities.
• Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.

Additional Information

• Preference will be given to candidates holding valid OPITO-approved T-BOSIET/BOSIET and H₂S certifications with a minimum validity of six months.
• The selected candidate might be required to travel to ADNOC offshore on a rotational basis to conduct site surveys, support brownfield assessments, verify existing installations, and obtain project-specific engineering data necessary for design and execution.
