Role Overview
Lead Process Engineer at Emirates Electrical & Instrumentation Company LLC, a member of the Ghobash Group, based in Abu Dhabi. The role provides technical authority for all process engineering activities related to Instrument Air (IA) and Plant Air (PA) System Upgrade projects, with primary focus on Air Compressors.

Role Purpose
Act as Technical Authority for all process engineering activities related to IA and PA System Upgrades, ensuring full compliance with ADNOC Offshore Process Engineering Standards, protection of FEED and Design Basis integrity, safe and reliable energy-efficient operation of IA/PA systems on live offshore platforms, and independent Owner's Engineer (OE)-level engineering governance.
Key Responsibilities
Process Technical Authority
- Act as Lead Process Authority for IA/PA system design, Compressor process sizing, and Air quality and reliability requirements.
- Enforce compliance with ADNOC Codes of Practice (CoPs) and API/ISO compressor and air treatment standards.
- Provide final technical approval on all process design deliverables.
Air Compressor & IA/PA System Process Design
- Perform and review Compressor sizing calculations, Air demand balance and peak load assessment, and System pressure drop calculations.
- Review Turndown and redundancy philosophy (N+1).
- Validate IA versus PA segregation, Dryer sizing and moisture removal efficiency, and Air quality class suitability for instruments.
Brownfield Integration & Offshore Feasibility
- Lead process engineering for tie-ins to live IA/PA headers, Shutdown and operational constraints, and Temporary air supply philosophy during changeover.
- Review Laser scan and as-built data and Brownfield modification method statements.
- Support SIMOPS planning and execution.
Process Safeguarding, PSV & Safety Studies
- Lead process input for HAZID/HAZOP/ENVID, Relieving scenarios and PSV sizing, and Blowdown and vent routing philosophy.
- Ensure all safeguarding recommendations are implemented in P&IDs and control logic.
Interfaces with Other Disciplines
- Coordinate closely with Rotating (compressors, performance), Piping (headers, drops, pressure classes), Static (air receivers, dryers), Electrical (motor power demand), and I&C (control logic and interlocks) disciplines.
Construction & Commissioning Support
- Support pre-commissioning of IA/PA systems, Dryer changeover and air quality verification, and Performance testing of compressors and dryers.
- Provide process acceptance for RFSU.
ADNOC-Specific Offshore Safety Responsibilities
- Enforce ADNOC PTW requirements, SIMOPS safety for live system tie-ins, and Overpressure and stored energy hazard control.
- Ensure Emergency blow-off and venting are compliant.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain key process discipline registers, including Process Equipment List, Compressor and IA/PA Calculation Register, P&ID Register, and TQ and Deviation Log.
- Review and approve Process datasheets, P&IDs, Cause and Effect diagrams (interface), and PSV sizing and safeguarding documents.
- Ensure compliance with ADNOC Document Numbering System and Project Master Document Register (MDR).
- Prepare and submit Weekly Process Engineering Progress Reports and Monthly Discipline Summary Reports.
- Verify and approve as-built process documentation for Mechanical Completion (MC), Ready for Commissioning (RFC), and Ready for Start-Up (RFSU).
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering – Mandatory.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in oil and gas industry with EPC exposure.
- ADNOC Offshore project approval experience – Strong Advantage.
- Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer – Advantage.
