Role Overview
Lead Mechanical Engineer - HVAC (Greenfield) at Wood PLC. This is a greenfield HVAC engineering leadership position responsible for providing technical expertise, design oversight, and coordination across all HVAC systems for the project.
Role Purpose
Lead and provide comprehensive technical expertise in HVAC design for a greenfield project, ensuring all design and engineering work meets relevant codes, ADNOC standards, and best practices. Coordinate HVAC engineering activities between the IPMT, EPC Contractor, and ADNOC stakeholders to deliver quality outcomes on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Technical Expertise
- Provide technical expertise in all HVAC design activities.
- Ensure design and engineering compliance with relevant codes and ADNOC standards.
- Perform regular and timely technical reviews of HVAC Engineering deliverables developed by engineering consultants and contractors.
- Ensure design quality in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
- Review and approve Engineering Consultant and EPC Contractor work for compliance with ADNOC project specifications, relevant codes, standards, and best industry practices.
- Ensure facilities are designed in accordance with the latest corporate guidelines with respect to environment and health aspects.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate, monitor, and handle HVAC design and engineering with EPC Contractor as per project expectation and complete within the established timeframe.
- Work with other discipline engineers within IPMT, EPC Contractor, ADNOC Engineering, Operation, and Site Interface to resolve technical issues.
- Ensure integration of the overall HVAC Engineering team and overall coordination within IPMT Mechanical HVAC Engineering Team.
- Ensure quality HVAC Engineering Consultant and EPC Contractor HVAC design activities.
- Provide technical assistance and coordination with other discipline engineers.
- Participate in layout reviews, model reviews, design reviews, and technical workshops.
- Interface with Managers, Team Leaders, and Engineers in the Company's Technical Departments, Business Units, Operations Units, and Logistics Department.
- Interface regularly with Contractor's Engineering and Project Management team and discipline engineers as required.
Design Optimization & Equipment Selection
- Coordinate the required engineering participation in the development and analysis of various design options and business models.
- Contribute input and expertise in the development and analysis of various design options and business models to design optimization and validation.
- Participate in teams for equipment sizing and equipment selection considering optimization and standardization.
- Ensure full utilization of existing facilities while optimizing the facilities required for new projects.
Reviews & Evaluations
- Coordinate technical reviews and bid evaluation and performance evaluation.
Installation & Commissioning Support
- Provide technical assistance during installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
Reporting & Management
- Report to ADNOC Discipline Team Leader, Engineering Manager, and provide support to Project Managers and Engineers within the Project Management Team organization.
- Ensure quality Discipline Engineering execution and integrity.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in oil and gas industry.
- Experience and detailed knowledge of relevant international codes and standards.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent technical team and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software.
- Ability to make independent decisions in the planning, organizing, and coordinating to develop solutions to complex problems.
