Role Overview
Lead Instrumentation and Control Engineer at Wood PLC for the ADNOC Offshore US LTDP project.
Role Purpose
Provide technical leadership and expertise in instrumentation design and engineering for offshore oil and gas projects. Ensure all instrumentation design and engineering activities comply with relevant codes, ADNOC standards, and best practices while coordinating with internal teams, EPC contractors, and ADNOC stakeholders to deliver quality solutions on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Technical Expertise
- Provide technical expertise in all instrumentation design activities.
- Ensure design and engineering compliance with relevant codes and ADNOC standards.
- Ensure integration of overall instrumentation engineering across the IPMT instrumentation engineering team.
- Perform regular and timely technical reviews of instrumentation engineering deliverables developed by engineering consultants and contractors.
- Review and approve engineering consultant and EPC contractor work to ensure compliance with ADNOC project specifications, relevant codes, standards, and best industry practices.
- Ensure quality and accuracy of engineering consultant and EPC contractor instrumentation engineering design activities.
Design Optimization and Planning
- Coordinate the required engineering participation in the development and analysis of various design options and business models.
- Contribute input and expertise in the development and analysis of various design options and business models to design optimization and validation.
- Participate in teams for equipment sizing and equipment selection considering optimization and standardization.
- Ensure that facilities are designed in accordance with the latest corporate guidelines with respect to environment and health aspects.
- Ensure full utilization of existing facilities while optimizing facilities required for new projects.
Project Coordination and Reviews
- Coordinate, monitor, and handle instrumentation design and engineering with the EPC contractor as per project expectation and complete the same within the timeframe.
- Participate in layout reviews, model reviews, design reviews, and technical workshops.
- Coordinate technical reviews, bid evaluation, and performance evaluation.
Stakeholder Management and Support
- Work with other discipline engineers within IPMT, EPC contractor, ADNOC engineering, operation, and site interface to resolve technical issues and ensure quality discipline engineering execution and integrity.
- Provide technical assistance and coordination with other discipline engineers.
- Provide technical assistance during installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
- Report to ADNOC discipline team leader, engineering manager, and provide support to project managers and engineers within the project management team organization.
- Interface with managers, team leaders, and engineers in the company's technical departments, business units, operations units, and logistics department.
- Interface regularly with contractor engineering and project management team and discipline engineers as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in oil and gas industry upstream offshore industry working for competitors' organizations such as Kent, KBR, Worley, Petrofac, or Saipem.
- Large projects experience is a must.
- Middle East or GCC experience on projects with Saudi Aramco, Qatar Energy, PDO, or similar is a must.
- PMC experience is highly preferable.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent technical team and interpersonal skills.
- Experience and detailed knowledge of relevant international codes and standards.
- Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software.
- Ability to make independent decisions in planning, organizing, and coordinating to develop solutions to complex problems.
