Lead Data Engineer

Role Overview

Lead Data Engineer at GAC Group. This role is responsible for architecting, building, and operating the data platform that supports reporting, analytics, and self-service business intelligence across the organization.

Role Purpose

To architect and operate a reliable, monitored, and maintainable data platform using Databricks, DBT, and Airflow. The role bridges business needs and technical delivery, ensuring data pipelines are production-ready and enabling teams to work with governed, secure, and scalable data products.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Platform Development

• Architect the data platform that supports reporting, analytics, and self-service BI across GAC Group.
• Develop a broader platform where teams can work with their own data in a governed, secure, scalable, and reliable way.
• Turn business needs into reusable and trusted data products.

Operations & Reliability

• Ensure that data pipelines are reliable, monitored, tested, and easy to support.
• Build and run production data flows using Databricks, DBT, and Airflow through Astronomer.
• Strengthen how data solutions are built, operated, and maintained in production.

Stakeholder & Team Leadership

• Work with business stakeholders, analysts, architects, and engineers to translate requirements into data solutions.
• Guide others in building data solutions that work well in production.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong data engineering skills.
• Practical operational mindset.
• Experience with Databricks, DBT, and Airflow through Astronomer.
• Ability to mentor and guide technical teams.
