Lead Cost Engineer

Role Overview

Lead Cost Engineer at HILL International. This is a senior cost engineering position focused on optimizing project costs, maintaining financial discipline, and ensuring successful project completion through expert guidance and collaboration with project teams.

Role Purpose

Provide strategic cost engineering expertise to infrastructure projects, lead a team of cost engineers, develop and implement cost control methodologies, and deliver financial analysis and recommendations that drive project profitability and stakeholder confidence.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead and manage a team of cost engineers, ensuring effective collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior cost engineers, fostering their professional development.

Cost Strategy & Planning

• Develop and implement cost engineering strategies, methodologies, and best practices for infrastructure projects.
• Conduct comprehensive cost estimates, including material, labor, and equipment costs, to support project planning and budgeting.
• Review and analyze project designs, specifications, and contracts to identify potential cost implications and provide cost-saving recommendations.

Cost Monitoring & Control

• Monitor and control project costs throughout the project lifecycle, identifying cost variances and implementing corrective actions.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost control measures across projects.

Stakeholder Reporting & Communication

• Prepare and present cost reports, forecasts, and financial analyses to project stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
• Collaborate with project managers and other disciplines to integrate cost engineering into project planning and decision-making processes.
• Convey complex cost engineering concepts to diverse audiences.

Professional Development & Compliance

• Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and cost-saving techniques to enhance cost engineering practices.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards in cost engineering practices.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 20 years of experience in cost engineering.
• Proven experience as a Lead Cost Engineer or in a similar senior role, preferably in PMC infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with Saudi Arabia's construction industry and local regulations is an advantage.

• Excellent knowledge of cost engineering principles, methodologies, and industry standards.
• Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to mentor and guide a team of cost engineers.
• Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools, such as Microsoft Excel, CostX, or similar applications.

• Effective communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of cost engineering services.
