Role Overview
Lead Construction Engineer – Civil/Structural (Marine) with KBR's Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) group, based in Kuwait. The role spans 12 months with possible extension, initially at KBR Kuwait office during engineering, then at KNPC Kuwait site office during construction.
Company Overview
KBR's Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) group is supporting the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) on an Oil Pier New Arm Facility project in Kuwait. The facility consists of approach trestle, loading platform, control tower building, O&M building, packaged substation, loading arm and control system, access platforms, mooring dolphins, and breasting dolphins.
Role Purpose
Monitor and oversee the execution of the Oil Pier New Arm Facility project by the EPC Contractor assigned by the client, ensuring construction activities align with quality standards, timely progress, and sound construction methodology from the engineering and site phases through completion.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Oversight
- Review and monitor construction activities performed by the EPC Contractor at site.
- Monitor and coordinate with the EPC Contractor as necessary to achieve quality requirements and timely construction progress as per Company standards.
Deliverables & Methodology
- Review relevant deliverables originated by the EPC Contractor from the perspective of construction methodology.
- Support review of EPC Contractor deliverables during the on-going engineering stage with focus on construction methodology.
Issue Resolution & Coordination
- Participate in reporting and resolving relevant construction issues with the client and EPC Contractor as needed.
- Coordinate with relevant personnel in KNPC Kuwait, KBR Kuwait, and KBR Australia as needed.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Attend meetings and workshops as requested by the client.
- Report to KNPC and KBR Project Management.
Project Support
- Support KBR Lead Planning/Scheduling (Project Control) on preparation of reports, timesheets, activity logs, and related documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Civil, Structural, Marine, Ocean, Naval, or Offshore Engineering.
- Minimum 12 years total post-graduation industrial work experience.
- Minimum 8 years post-graduation work experience in refinery or petrochemical sectors.
- Minimum 3 years post-graduation work experience in leading engineering or project management consultants.
- Relevant marine construction work experience such as jetty, pier, berth, approach trestle, loading arm, mooring dolphins, and similar structures.
- Experience in construction-related deliverables review.

- Contract duration: 12 months with possible extension.
- Assignment location: KBR Kuwait office during engineering stage; KNPC Kuwait site office during construction stage, merged into KNPC's PMC team.
