Role Overview
Landscaping Engineer (STMC) at SEHA, located in a hospital facility environment.
Role Purpose
Oversee and maintain hospital landscaping, gardens, irrigation systems, and grounds to ensure a safe, attractive, and functional environment that meets the facility's standards and supports the needs of staff, patients, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Contractor Management
- Manage all Landscaping staff employed under the contractor.
- Supervise all landscaping works on a daily basis, including control of contractor staff and verification of duty attendance.
- Ensure the Landscaping contractor complies with contract conditions, obligations, and landscaping-related standards.
- Identify and resolve any issues or problems related to landscaping.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Conduct site inspections and audits to assess the quality and condition of the landscaping.
- Document findings and recommendations in detailed reports and provide feedback to the building maintenance manager.
- Implement hospital policy and procedures and ensure compliance with related PPGs.
- Evaluate and approve landscaping plans, designs, and materials, including additional works.
Financial Management
- Hold financial responsibility for checking and verifying the BOQ (Bill of Quantities) and invoices related to Landscaping Contractor payments.
- Prepare yearly grounds keeping budget as per Department direction.
- Monitor and manage the budget and schedule of landscaping projects.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare monthly reports related to Landscaping services and submit to the Building Maintenance Manager.
- Follow up on and respond to CAFM requests from end users related to Landscaping.
Maintenance & Operations
- Keep the hospital garden and ground in a beautiful and scenic environment that meets the hospital's standards of aesthetics, safety, and functionality.
- Prepare and maintain irrigation system follow-up on contractor work with regard to grounds keeping.
- Schedule and follow Preventive Planned Maintenance (PPM) in CAFM for all types of Landscaping items.
- Preparation of schemes of irrigation systems and landscapes for new areas.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with other hospital departments and stakeholders to ensure landscaping meets the needs and expectations of hospital staff, patients, and visitors.
- Coordinate with other stakeholders (internal and external) and contractors if they need support from the Landscaping team.
- Communicate with local municipality to obtain new plants and trees.
- Communicate with all subcontractors working in the hospital area.
Professional Development
- Keep abreast of the latest trends and best practices in landscaping.
- Assist in staff orientation procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in a similar industry.
