Role Overview

Laboratory Technician position at Al Ghad Charter School, Abu Dhabi, for academic year 2026–2027. This role is restricted to UAE National candidates and is part of Aldar Education.

Role Purpose

Support laboratory operations and teaching delivery across science, ICT, and LEGO laboratories by preparing lessons, managing equipment and materials, maintaining facilities, and assisting both staff and students in practical learning activities.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Support and Preparation

• Provide direct support in the preparation of all lessons taking place in science, ICT, and LEGO laboratories and classrooms.
• Be available in the laboratory or prep rooms to support all teaching staff in these areas.
• Liaise with academic staff to discuss timetables, equipment requirements, and work plans.
• Run trials of experiments prior to classes and then demonstrate techniques for experiments.
• Support classroom delivery as required.

Equipment Management and Maintenance

• Manage laboratories and ensure that the right equipment, tools, chemicals, and other materials are adequately stocked and kept in working condition.
• Set up, check, and issue equipment and apparatus for use in practical lessons as required by subject plans and in liaison with teaching staff.
• Retrieve and clear away apparatus and monitor stock levels.
• Maintain and repair equipment, laboratory, and LEGO apparatus.
• Demonstrate accurate and appropriate use of all equipment.
• Ensure that equipment is properly cleaned and that all materials are appropriately stored.
• Ensure all equipment is appropriately stored when not in use.
• Conduct periodic tests on lab equipment and ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols.

Records and Inventory

• Maintain required records and logs of all maintenance and servicing of equipment and facilities.
• Manage the stock control of all equipment.
• Keep records for students' practical sessions, tracking methods and results.
• Maintain a detailed inventory list that includes item names, quantities, and expiration dates if applicable.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

• Ensure that all health and safety procedures are understood and followed correctly.

Teaching and Student Support

• Support the work of teachers in classes and laboratory sessions and give technical advice to staff and students.
• Work with individual students and support them on research projects and in Extra Curricular Activities.
• Coordinate work in the laboratory to ensure efficient use is made of expensive pieces of equipment.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role.
• Experience of US Common Core curriculum is an advantage.
