Role Overview

IT Operations Specialist - Banking at VAM Systems, based in Bahrain.

Role Purpose

Manage and maintain mission-critical banking applications and infrastructure 24x7, ensuring continuous service availability through proactive monitoring, incident response, backup and disaster recovery operations.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

• Run all operation tasks on mission-critical banking applications.
• Execute IT operations including End of Day, Start of Day, backups, restores and replication.
• Manage and maintain backup and restore procedures.
• Activate and operate disaster recovery centers.
• Takeover first-level helpdesk responsibility after normal working hours.

Monitoring & Incident Management

• Monitor and ensure service availability for 24x7 hours.
• Escalate user-reported and system or application faults.
• Monitor database performance and tune memory, I/O, SQL as necessary.
• Monitor and escalate database growth and disk space issues.
• Monitor and escalate alert log files for possible database problems.
• Monitor alerts and job flows on Control-M.

Data Management

• Take data backup of all business applications.
• Ensure data replication from main sites to DR site (Bahrain and London).
• Manage bank data replication procedures.
• Perform database recovery in case of failure.
• Monitor offline and online cold backup using Veritas NetBackup and VEEAM software.

Support

• Support other IT teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum bachelor's degree.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in IT Operations.
• Data center operations experience in monitoring, incident handling and escalation.
• Experience working in banking domain or financial institutions.
• Working knowledge of databases including Oracle and SQL Server.

Skills & Competencies

• Operating system knowledge including Windows, Solaris and Linux.
• Hardware components knowledge and functions.
• Helpdesk application usage.
• Backup and restore software proficiency.
• Veritas NetBackup and VEEAM software operation.
• Control-M monitoring and management.

Additional Information

• IT certifications in Windows, Linux, SQL are advantageous.
• ITIL or non-IT certifications are a plus.
