Interior Designer Engineer

Role Overview

Interior Designer Engineer at WSP in the Middle East, based in Saudi Arabia. The role oversees the execution of interior design and fit-out works on site, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, project requirements, quality standards, and health and safety regulations.

Role Purpose

Supervise and manage the delivery of interior design and fit-out works during construction, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure all interior finishing works meet approved designs, quality standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision & Inspection

• Supervise interior design and fit-out works during construction to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, and contract requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections and monitor workmanship, materials, and construction activities.
• Monitor project progress and provide technical support to the Resident Engineer and supervision team.
• Verify completed works and participate in snagging, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.

Documentation & Technical Review

• Review shop drawings, material submittals, mock-ups, and samples for compliance with project requirements.
• Review contractor method statements and construction methodologies related to interior works.
• Experience reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, and technical documentation.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Ensure all interior finishing works meet quality standards and client expectations.
• Identify and report non-conformances and support the implementation of corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with local authority regulations, safety requirements, and project procedures.
• Familiarity with international standards, Saudi building regulations, and quality assurance procedures.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, structural engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve design and construction-related issues.
• Attend site meetings and provide updates on interior works progress, quality, and potential risks.

Project Closeout

• Support project close-out activities, including final inspections and documentation reviews.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in interior design and site supervision, preferably on large-scale building projects.
• Previous experience working on supervision or construction management projects in the Middle East, preferably Saudi Arabia.
• Strong knowledge of interior finishes, fit-out construction methods, materials, and detailing.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office, and other relevant design and project management software.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
• Fluent in English; Arabic language skills would be an advantage.
