Role Overview
WSP Middle East is seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join the Construction Supervision team for a major infrastructure development project at King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC). The role is based in Saudi Arabia and supports the delivery of roads, utilities, and industrial infrastructure works.
Role Purpose
Oversee the inspection of mechanical infrastructure installations to ensure compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, quality standards, and safety requirements. Work closely with the Resident Engineer and project team to deliver all construction works to the highest standards of quality, safety, and technical compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection & Monitoring
- Inspect and monitor mechanical infrastructure works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Supervise installation activities related to potable water networks, firefighting systems, irrigation systems, sewerage networks, and stormwater infrastructure.
- Verify compliance with approved method statements, ITPs, and quality procedures.
- Monitor contractor performance and workmanship standards.
Materials & Quality Verification
- Review and verify materials delivered to site and ensure they meet project specifications and approvals.
- Ability to review shop drawings, material submittals, and technical documentation.
Testing & Commissioning
- Witness testing, flushing, pressure testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
Non-Conformance & Corrective Action
- Identify non-conforming works and assist in tracking corrective actions to closure.
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain detailed inspection records and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
Coordination & Compliance
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders to resolve site-related technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements and industry best practices.
- Attend site meetings and contribute to technical discussions related to mechanical works.
- Support the Resident Engineer in achieving project objectives and delivery milestones.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in construction supervision and inspection of infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience inspecting water supply, firefighting, irrigation, sewerage, and stormwater systems.
- Previous experience working for an engineering consultancy or supervision consultant.
- Experience in testing and commissioning of mechanical utility networks.
- Previous experience in Saudi Arabia is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of international standards, specifications, and construction quality requirements.
- Strong communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Fluency in English is essential; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
