Role Purpose
The Income Auditor ensures the accuracy and integrity of all revenue transactions posted to hotel accounts, reconciles daily revenue across multiple systems and payment channels, investigates discrepancies, and maintains compliance with hotel policies and financial controls.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Verification & Reconciliation
- Verify that all transactions are accurately posted to the appropriate accounts.
- Reconcile daily revenue against PMS, POS, payment systems, and supporting documents.
- Review cash, credit card, bank, and other payment transactions for accuracy.
- Ensure proper recording and reconciliation of credit card settlements and accounts receivable.
- Review cashier reports and ensure all cash and credit card balances are properly accounted for.
Revenue Policy & Controls Compliance
- Verify room rates, discounts, complimentary rooms, voids, rebates, refunds, and allowances.
- Check that all revenue transactions comply with the hotel's policies and internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and applicable financial controls.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and guest information.
Investigation & Issue Resolution
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between revenue reports and supporting records.
- Monitor unusual transactions, variances, or irregularities and report them to the appropriate management.
- Identify opportunities to improve revenue controls, reporting accuracy, and operational procedures.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and distribute daily revenue and income audit reports to Finance and management.
- Maintain accurate audit documentation and supporting schedules.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required reports and documentation.
Month-End & Period Closing
- Assist with month-end closing activities, including revenue reconciliation and accruals where required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in Income Audit, Night Audit, or Accounts.
- Good knowledge of hotel PMS and POS systems.
- Knowledge of hotel revenue accounting and internal controls.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong Excel and reconciliation skills.
- Good attention to detail and analytical ability.
- Ability to identify discrepancies and follow through on corrective actions.
