ICT Engineer - (Aviation Exp)

Role Overview

ICT Engineer with aviation experience at Egis Group. This role is responsible for reviewing, coordinating, and supervising the implementation of ICT infrastructure and systems throughout projects, covering design review, technical coordination, site supervision, quality assurance, and compliance with project requirements, standards, and specifications.

Role Purpose

The IT Infrastructure Architect leads the design, implementation, and oversight of ICT infrastructure solutions for complex projects. This role ensures that network, data center, and ICT systems are scalable, secure, resilient, and operationally efficient while complying with international standards, project specifications, and governance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Architecture

• Lead the design and optimization of ICT infrastructure solutions.
• Review high-level ICT architectural designs, supporting data center modernization and ensuring the scalability, security, resilience, and efficiency of ICT environments.
• Define ICT architecture principles and governance, ensuring compliance with industry standards, cybersecurity requirements, and client governance frameworks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Define the architecture and resilience strategy for Tier III/Tier IV Data Centers in accordance with Uptime Institute standards, ANSI/TIA, BICSI, ISO/IEC, and cybersecurity frameworks, cloud infrastructure, and disaster recovery.
• Provide technical input on network infrastructure, data centers, communications systems, and associated ICT facilities, as applicable to the project.

Technical Coordination & Collaboration

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate stakeholders' requirements into robust and practical technical solutions aligned with industry standards and organizational objectives.
• Coordinate ICT requirements with architectural, MEP, security, civil, and other relevant disciplines.
• Coordinate with the Contractor, Designer, Client, and other disciplines to resolve technical and interface issues related to ICT systems.
• Ensure seamless integration between ICT infrastructure and airport operational systems.
• Build trusted-advisor relationships with airport executives, IT operational stakeholders, regulators, and technology partners.

Design Review & Submissions

• Review technical submissions, designs, and proposed solutions to ensure compliance with project requirements, international codes and standards, and best practices.
• Review and coordinate shop drawings and method statements.
• Review ICT architectural and infrastructure solutions to ensure scalability, security, resilience, and operational efficiency.
• Review and comment on material submittals, technical data sheets, samples, and equipment proposals.
• Ensure that cyber security, data protection, and regulatory compliance are embedded into the design.

Site Supervision & Quality Assurance

• Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of ICT systems and infrastructure at site.
• Monitor site activities to ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and project requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections and identify non-conformances, deficiencies, and coordination issues, ensuring timely resolution.
• Verify that installed ICT systems comply with the approved design, project specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
• Review and witness testing, commissioning, and integrated systems testing as required.
• Ensure that site activities comply with applicable HSE, quality, security, and project procedures.

Implementation & Integration

• Support the implementation and integration of network, data center, and ICT infrastructure systems.
• Ensure seamless integration between ICT infrastructure and airport operational systems.
• Monitor the quality and progress of ICT works and report on site progress, technical issues, and required corrective actions.

Documentation & Handover

• Review as-built drawings, operation and maintenance documentation, and other handover deliverables.
• Prepare and contribute to technical reports, inspection records, progress reports, and project correspondence.

Risk & Governance Management

• Support the identification and management of ICT risks, interfaces, and technical constraints throughout the project lifecycle.
• Own technical risk identification, mitigation, and escalation.
• Provide technical leadership in developing scalable, resilient, secure, and future-ready ICT infrastructure that supports operations, Special Airport Systems (SAS), Operational Readiness (ORAT), and digital transformation initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering, Computer and Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of work experience with IT infrastructure architecture, network infrastructure, data centers, SAS, and ICT systems.
• Professional engineering registration with a recognized engineering body.
• Proven experience in design review, technical coordination, and site supervision of IT infrastructure projects.
• Experience with all project design stages from concept design up to IFC, shop drawings, as-built, testing, commissioning, and handover.
• Experience in airport systems, smart buildings systems, and complex infrastructure projects.
• Significant experience working on large, complex technology programs, with demonstrable delivery in the aviation, airport, or wider transport/critical infrastructure sector.
• Familiarity with airport-specific standards and frameworks (IATA, ICAO, etc.).
• Experience with Data Center design requirements and Data Center Tier classifications.
• Experience with physical security systems such as CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, and security control rooms.
• Knowledge of OT, SCADA, IoT, and building-management integration within an airport campus.

Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and infrastructure security.
• Good understanding of cybersecurity requirements, network segregation, IT/OT separation, and secure ICT infrastructure design.
• Good knowledge of ICT/ELV systems, international standards, and project documentation.
• Good understanding of system integration, multidisciplinary coordination, and construction-stage requirements.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.
• Excellent communication, coordination, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic language skills are a plus.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Understanding of sustainable construction practices and their application within project delivery.

Additional Information

• Relevant architecture and security certifications are strongly preferred.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
