HVDC Tender Technical Manager

Role Overview

HVDC Tender Technical Manager at GE VERNOVA. This role leads the overall technical coordination and management during the tender phase of large or complex HVDC projects, which may involve High Voltage Direct Current technology on offshore platforms and require collaboration with multiple stakeholders worldwide.

Role Purpose

The Tender Engineering Manager acts as the HVDC Technical Bid Leader and primary technical point of contact with the customer. This role ensures that all technical aspects of the tender are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with customer requirements, while leading the development of optimal technical solutions and managing technical risks and opportunities throughout the tender process.

Key Responsibilities

Tender Technical Coordination

• Lead the overall technical coordination and management during the tendering phase of HVDC projects.
• Serve as the primary contact for the customer and ensure accountability for developing the best technical solutions with the tender team.
• Ensure the technical tender design meets deadlines and quality standards.
• Coordinate and manage the global schedule of tender engineering activities across various work packages of large or complex projects.
• Implement Engineering Processes and oversee technical coordination across all work packages.

Technical Solutions & Documentation

• Provide technical solutions that are selected based on safety, reliability, cost-effectiveness, ease of installation, and operational efficiency in line with customer expectations.
• Deliver the necessary documentation according to the tender general time schedule.

Budget & Strategy

• Estimate the project engineering budget and develop the project execution Engineering design strategy in collaboration with the Regional Technical Tendering Leader, the Regional Engineering Leader, and with support from Project Engineering Managers.

Execution Phase Management

• Manage the project from the execution phase (Order to Remittance - OTR) with Functional Engineering Leaders such as Control, Platform, and Layout/Design leaders.
• Coordinate Project Engineers who have led similar projects during the execution stage to leverage their expertise.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related fields.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in HVDC systems, FACTS, industrial, or renewable sectors.
• Experience in the HVDC/Grid Solution Integration industry is mandatory.
• Mastering of some engineering processes such as Civil work, Plant Engineering, control and protection hardware, System and performance studies, or Electrical design.
• Experience with relevant standards and codes including IEC 62351, IEEE 1588, IEEE 802, IEEE 1402, IEC 62501, and NERC CIP.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence others, and clearly present complex messages.
