Role Overview
HSSE Officer at Napco National. This role is based at the company premises and encompasses health, safety, security and environmental responsibilities across all operational areas.
Role Purpose
To ensure a safe, healthy and compliant working environment across all company facilities by conducting regular inspections, maintaining HSE systems and documentation, investigating incidents, and building safety awareness across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Inspections & Monitoring
- Conduct periodical safety rounds across the entire company premises to ensure safe atmosphere and conditions.
- Ensure plant and warehouse safety and hygienic conditions are maintained and report any deviations.
- Check safe operation and condition of machinery across the production area.
- Monitor condition of drainages and canals, ensuring protection against infestation through pest control spray activities in coordination with department heads.
- Monitor roof condition, walls, light shadows and electrical panels.
- Conduct operational risk assessments on site and design risk mitigation measures.
Personal Protective Equipment & Compliance
- Ensure plant-related employees are wearing appropriate overalls, clothing and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Follow up on implementation of Occupational Health and Safety Policies, programs and procedures.
Fire Safety & Emergency Equipment
- Ensure perfect condition of fire-fighting equipment through periodical maintenance and refilling as applicable.
- Ensure clear access to fire extinguishers and hose cabinets across the company.
- Take fire preventive measures as needed, especially during summer.
- Respond immediately to fires and other emergency situations.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain necessary documents recording daily, weekly and monthly HSE inspection activities.
- Investigate and report all serious and critical personal injury accidents occurring to staff, visitors or contractors.
- Investigate accidents and incidents resulting in substantial damage to company properties.
- Generate and maintain all required reports related to HSE management system, including corrective action and preventive measures.
- Provide HSE improvement proposals stating non-conformance, proposed corrective action, required resources and implementation plan.
Hot Works & Contractor Management
- Monitor hot works and ensure they are carried out with due permission and safe conditions across the plant, whether performed by maintenance, contractors or third parties.
- Coordinate registration and removal of hazardous waste if any.
Training & Awareness
- Conduct Safety and First Aid on-the-job training for new recruits when required.
- Coordinate training of personnel in safety testing areas, including first aid, CPR, accident prevention and investigation, workplace inspections and other matters related to implementing safety procedures in facilities.
- Increase health and safety awareness at all levels within the organization.
- Respond to employee safety concerns.
First Aid & Health
- Ensure availability and maintenance of first aid equipment and accessories.
- Provide first aid activities in the event of accidents when required.
Security Coordination
- Coordinate with security guards regarding visitor movements, keeping track of entry and exit to company premises.
Emergency Response & Support
- Participate in evacuation drills.
- Assist executive staff, senior administrators, principals, supervisors and HSE team leader in emergency situations.
