Role Overview
HSES Tech at McDermott, providing solutions to health, safety, environment, and security problems in conjunction with HSE Advisors and Supervisors through established HSES Management Systems.
Role Purpose
Evaluate and select technical solutions to health, safety, environment, and security issues, working with HSE leadership to implement proactive prevention programs and ensure regulatory compliance across operations.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Regulatory
- Maintain conversance with local and international HSES laws, codes, and regulations.
- Provide technical assistance to ensure compliance with applicable international, federal, state, and company environmental, safety, and health regulations.
- Conduct compliance evaluations of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure regulatory environmental, safety, and health standards and applicable codes are followed.
Prevention & Risk Management
- Serve as a resource to develop and administer a proactive prevention program for incidents.
- Regularly inspect work areas to identify unsafe acts or conditions.
- Observe work groups and provide guidance and coaching to personnel to perform work safely.
- Assist in the delivery and observation of toolbox talks and Job Safety Analyses (JSA's).
Incident Response & Investigation
- Assist with incident investigations and compilation of reports.
- Assist with medical evacuations and respond to emergencies as required.
Operations & Monitoring
- Implement the HSES activity plan and ensure activities are completed as scheduled.
- Observe the condition of plant and equipment and report deficiencies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or equivalent certification.
- Two to three years of relevant experience.
- Experience with technical activities, including on and offshore operations.
- Exposure to incident investigation and analysis software preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Maintain key competencies associated with the HSES function.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
- Ability to apply knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations.
- Ability to use best practices and knowledge of internal and external business issues to improve products or services in own discipline.
- Proven experience promoting teamwork, coaching, and guiding others.
