HSES Specialist

Role Overview

HSES Specialist at McDermott. This is a field-based and business administrative hybrid role offering considerable autonomy in a dynamic environment.

Role Purpose

Apply conceptual knowledge of Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSES) to support the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety systems, compliance programs, and incident management across field operations and administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities

HSES Planning and Implementation

• Assist in the development and implementation of HSES plans, procedures and instructions.
• Assist in the development and implementation of HSES initiatives.

Guidance and Mentorship

• Provide HSES guidance to frontline supervision and field personnel.
• Provide mentorship and coaching to junior HSES staff.
• Develop Toolbox Talk (TBT) plan and supporting material.
• Observe and assist supervision during the delivery of TBTs.

Vendor and Contractor Management

• Assist in HSES prequalification of subcontractors and vendors.
• Monitor subcontractors and vendors to ensure compliance to safe work practices.

Risk Assessment and Management

• Participate in risk assessments and ensure risk registries are maintained up to date.

Compliance and Inspections

• Assist with the planning of Permit to Work's (PTW's), conduct inspections and ensure compliance to PTW controls.
• Assist in preparing and conducting HSES audits and inspections.

Audit and Findings Tracking

• Initiate, monitor, and report on the progress of audit and inspection findings.

Emergency Response and Incident Management

• Assist and participate in emergency response drills, including preparation of reports and inspection of equipment.
• Participate in incident investigations and prepare reports as necessary.

Operations

• Participate and execute HSES activity plan.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree or Diploma or equivalent in HSES related subject.
• 5 years of Oil and Gas HSES experience.
• Conversant with local and international HSES laws, codes, and regulations.
• Familiar with all company, facility, and project specific HSES terms, requirements, and deliverables.
