Role Overview
HSES Specialist at McDermott. The role combines field-based and business administrative duties in a dynamic environment, requiring considerable autonomy and the ability to apply conceptual HSES knowledge to support routine assignments.

Role Purpose
The HSES Specialist applies existing knowledge and experience to support routine assignments, using best practices to serve as a resource for line management in administering a proactive prevention program.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Implementation
- Assist in the development and implementation of HSES plans, procedures, and instructions.
- Develop Toolbox Talk (TBT) plan and supporting material.
- Assist in the development and implementation of HSES initiatives.
Guidance & Mentorship
- Provide HSES guidance to frontline supervision and field personnel.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to junior HSES staff.
Compliance & Monitoring
- Assist in HSES Prequalification of subcontractors and vendors.
- Monitor subcontractors and vendors to ensure compliance to safe work practices.
- Assist with the planning of Permit to Work's (PTW's), conduct inspections, and ensure compliance to PTW controls.
Risk & Audit Management
- Participate in risk assessments and ensure risk registries are maintained up to date.
- Assist in preparing and conducting HSES audits and inspections.
- Initiate, monitor, and report on the progress of audit and inspection findings.
Training & Development
- Observe and assist supervision during the delivery of TBTs.
Emergency & Incident Management
- Assist and participate in emergency response drills, including preparation of reports and inspection of equipment.
- Participate in incident investigations and prepare reports as necessary.
Execution
- Participate and execute HSES activity plan.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or Diploma or equivalent in HSES related subject.
- 5 years of Oil and Gas HSES experience.
- Conversant with local and international HSES laws, codes, and regulations.
- Familiar with all company, facility, and project specific HSES terms, requirements, and deliverables.
- Maintain key competencies associated with the HSES function.
- Successful degree holding candidates are required to provide a degree equivalency certificate issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR).
