Role Purpose
The Housekeeping Manager leads the housekeeping operation across the two properties, ensuring exceptional standards of cleanliness, presentation, guest comfort, service, and operational efficiency through strong leadership, meticulous attention to detail, and close coordination with Front Office, Engineering, Laundry, and other departments.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Standards
- Lead and manage daily housekeeping operations across guest rooms, suites, public areas, and back-of-house areas
- Ensure all rooms and public areas consistently meet Raffles and Fairmont luxury service and cleanliness standards
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, suites, public areas, VIP rooms, and turn-down service
- Implement deep-cleaning schedules, preventive maintenance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure consistent delivery of exceptional guest experiences in line with Raffles and Fairmont brand standards
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise, coach, motivate, and develop housekeeping supervisors, room attendants, housepersons, and other team members
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and development of housekeeping colleagues
- Promote teamwork, employee engagement, and a positive service culture
- Foster an inclusive environment where every individual feels valued and respected
- Create an environment where colleagues are empowered, supported, and recognized
Planning & Scheduling
- Plan staffing, schedules, room assignments, daily workload, and departmental priorities
Quality & Compliance
- Monitor departmental productivity, quality standards, operational KPIs, and cost control
- Ensure compliance with hotel standards, health and safety regulations, hygiene, sanitation, and fire safety procedures
- Monitor and control housekeeping inventory, including linen, amenities, cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment
- Ensure proper handling and control of lost and found items
Departmental Coordination
- Coordinate closely with Front Office to ensure accurate room status and timely room readiness
- Coordinate with Engineering to report and follow up on maintenance issues and room defects
- Maintain effective communication and coordination with Front Office, Engineering, Laundry, and other hotel departments
Guest Service & Relations
- Handle guest requests, complaints, preferences, and service recovery in a professional manner
Sustainability
- Support sustainability initiatives and minimize wastage of water, energy, chemicals, and supplies
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Hotel Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of housekeeping experience in a luxury hotel environment, with supervisory or management experience
- Previous experience in a five-star or luxury hospitality property is highly preferred
- Previous experience in Qatar or the Middle East is an advantage
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of housekeeping operations, room inspections, cleaning standards, and luxury guest service
- Proven leadership, team management, coaching, and training skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities
- Good knowledge of health, safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards
- Experience with housekeeping systems and hotel property management systems
- Strong understanding of inventory management, cost control, and departmental budgeting
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced luxury hotel environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Proficiency in English; additional languages are an advantage
