Role Overview

Heavy Truck Driver at KBR. Transport merchandise, supplies, hazardous chemicals, and manufacturing equipment from one location to another using trucks, vans, or vehicles capable of carrying large loads.

Role Purpose

Safely transport cargo from one point to another for distribution, resale, or delivery while maintaining vehicle condition, ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory procedures, and documenting all shipments and inspections.

Key Responsibilities

Transportation & Cargo Management

• Haul cargo from one point to another so merchandise can be distributed, bought, or sold.
• Inspect cargo to verify it has been loaded correctly.
• Review all necessary shipping documents.

Vehicle Maintenance & Safety

• Inspect trucks for safety and follow safety instructions, especially when carrying hazardous materials or chemicals.
• Maintain responsibility for vehicle condition and identify any malfunctioning parts.
• Maintain truck knowledge to address breakdowns that may occur during transport.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all safety procedures.
• Comply with all SHE procedures prior to commencement and during work.
• Encourage reporting of unsafe acts and conditions.
• Follow all precautionary measures when carrying hazardous or fragile materials.

Team Support

• Supervise an additional driver who works shifts to reduce pressure on a single driver.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 3 years' experience in heavy truck driving.
• Good physical condition to remain on the road for extended periods without rest.
• Knowledge of truck maintenance and repair procedures.

Skills & Competencies

• Punctuality and schedule adherence to ensure timely delivery.
• Careful handling and strict adherence to precautionary measures with hazardous or fragile materials.
• Safety awareness and compliance mindset.
