Role Purpose

To carry out general handyman, repair, painting, and maintenance works throughout the hotel while maintaining the highest quality, appearance, and brand standards. The role supports the Engineering team in keeping the hotel's facilities, guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces in excellent condition and ready for guests.

Key Responsibilities

Painting and Surface Preparation

• Perform painting and touch-up works in guest rooms, corridors, public areas, restaurants, offices, and back-of-house areas.
• Prepare surfaces by sanding, filling, scraping, patching, and cleaning before painting.
• Ensure all painting and repair work meets the hotel's quality, appearance, and brand standards.

General Maintenance and Repairs

• Carry out minor carpentry, plumbing, tiling, plastering, and general repair works as required.
• Inspect walls, ceilings, doors, fixtures, furniture, and other areas for damage and defects.
• Identify maintenance defects and carry out suitable repairs.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and complete assigned work orders within the required timeframe.

Project Support

• Support the Engineering team with preventive maintenance, refurbishment, and renovation projects.

Safety and Standards

• Protect furniture, flooring, fixtures, and guest areas while carrying out maintenance or painting works.
• Follow all hotel health, safety, fire, environmental, and chemical-handling procedures.
• Safely handle and store paints, chemicals, tools, and equipment.
• Report major defects, safety hazards, equipment issues, and additional maintenance requirements to the Engineering Supervisor.

Housekeeping and Organization

• Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.

Guest and Team Engagement

• Demonstrate the "Yes I Can!" attitude by providing friendly, responsive, and solution-focused service to guests and team members.

Qualifications & Experience

• Previous experience as a Handyman, Painter, Maintenance Technician, or similar role, preferably in a 5-star hotel.
• Strong practical knowledge of painting, surface preparation, and finishing techniques.
• Good knowledge of general building maintenance and minor repair works.
• Practical skills in basic carpentry, plumbing, tiling, plastering, and other handyman tasks.
• Ability to identify maintenance defects and carry out suitable repairs.

Skills & Competencies

• Ability to carry out high-quality painting and touch-up works with attention to detail.
• Knowledge of different types of paints, primers, coatings, and appropriate application methods.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety procedures.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a positive and professional attitude.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multicultural Engineering team.
