Role Overview
Group Manager - Legal (Maternity Cover) at DP World. This is a 6-month maternity cover position.
Role Purpose
Provide commercially focused legal guidance, advice and assistance to the Group Technology division across a broad range of legal and compliance matters, including information technology, intellectual property, data and e-commerce. Serve as first line support for Group Technology legal matters.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Support & Advice
- Provide effective, reliable and user-friendly support, advice and assistance to Group Technology team on commercial contract transactions.
- Make clear and commercially focused recommendations on commercial contract issues.
- Deliver focused support specifically for Group Technology team needs.
Legal Documentation & Review
- Review, draft and negotiate a broad range of legal documents including information technology, intellectual property, data and e-commerce related agreements and terms.
- Ensure legal and compliance requirements are met within all documents.
Escalation & Liaison
- Identify and effectively escalate non-standard aspects in commercial contracts.
- Act as liaison between commercial colleagues and Group Director - Legal.
Reporting & Governance
- Provide effective reporting to Group Legal Director, SVP Group Technology and Technology finance team.
- Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times, promoting and demonstrating positive behaviors in harmony with DP World's Principles, values and culture.
- Ensure the highest level of safety is applied in all activities.
- Understand and follow DP World's Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
General
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Law Degree from an accredited university (England & Wales preferred; Commonwealth qualified will be considered).
- Qualification to practice law from a recognized legal regulatory body.
- Minimum 8 years post-qualification experience in an internationally recognized law firm and/or multinational company (consideration will be given to those with different post-qualification experience).
- Preferably experience working in the Middle East region.
Skills & Competencies
- Enthusiasm for information technology, intellectual property, data and e-commerce matters, and preferably international trade and logistics.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of business needs.
- Awareness and sensitivity to differing international legal and cultural business practices.
- Flexibility to work within different cultural environments.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively negotiate legal issues and transaction documentation with counterparties.
- Good communication and inter-personal skills.
- Good English language working ability and drafting skills.
- Preferably knowledge of English/common law and UAE law.
